Does anyone have copies of either Drawing files or Inventor files showing the basic designs for many of the various drivetrains that are used in the FR Competitions? Our team has used the standard kit components and motors as described at the kickoffs to power our robots but we have always been two wheel drive with casters on the front. It has served us well but we want to look for different types of drivetrain options.

We would like to study drawings of some different styles such as the track style among others so we could learn how they work without having to shell out the big bucks to try and design a working system since our budget is not great. We would be willing to pay if we had to. We just want to learn how they work and what components are needed. We can produce detail drawings for components if we had some assembly files such as Inventor drawings.

I great place to start poking around would be the Picture Galleries on this site. If you click the link to those at the top of this page, it'll show you galleries broken down by year. Within each year, you'll find another subcategory named Robots and, within that, a subcategory for CAD drawings.

Those are just screenshots, so you won't be able to get inside them and move around, but they'll give you a good idea of how some things work. If you have questions about any of them, you can start or go to a thread about the photo as well.

I can see what I can do about getting an archive together of the drivetrain we're prototyping now. I modeled in Solidworks, so it may take me a bit of time to go in and convert all the parts and assemblies into something Inventor can handle. I'll attach some screenshots of it for now:

Some Drawings can be seen Here (http://provin.dnsalias.com:8080/gallery2/main.php) . I have the files and you are welcome to use them. I can setup a download link if you are interested.

That would be great. Again, we are not trying to gain an advantage, just knowledge. Let me know what to do as far as the link goes.

I will be sure to check that out. Those pictures you posted are what I am talking about in that we see so many teams use different components than what come in the kit and we thought we were limited to what we had in the kit. We would like to expand our ideas outside of that.

Now is the time to gain as much advantage and knowledge as you can. Feel free to use these drawings as is or edit them to suit your needs.
Here is the Link (ftp://provin.dnsalias.com/pub/) .
Download the 2006 Robot Directory. Read the "Read Me" file.
Let me know if you have any problems.

Edit Link is fixed

PM me if you'd like to see our gearbox in Inventor 8 and I'd be glad to answer any questions about it.

(I'm not "allowed" to say anything about it anymore. Some people think I speak of it too often.)

Also check out http://www.andymark.biz

They have different one speed (similar to the kitbox) and a two speed shifter.

Look through the Technical Discussion on this forum and always ask questions. People are always ready to answer.

The best of what I have for the moment is is pictures not Inventor Files.

I do have Inventor files, but I am on a dial up here.

The Inventor files I do have are also scattered amongst my hard drive being that I hundreds of them, some day I may organize them.

Anyway the black Autocad drawing was the first drawing I ever did of our robot. It contains a simple 4wd machine, with a frame made of welded angle aluminum.

The second drawing is of our 2004 4wd robot drivetrain.

I have lots of information, especially in the transmission part of the drivetrain, it is just a matter of getting it to you. :ahh:

sir and madams,
i dont know how to make the piston moving with the xilanh and the rod with cam can't move in their orbit
although i use the contant constrain , but i still dont do that
can you share to me the book involved with that problems ?

thanks so much :)

This forum is for the FIRST Robotics Competition. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but I am sure it doesn't belong here. Good luck in your endeavors.
