FIRSTers should find the December issue of the American Society of Mechanical Engineer's "Heroes of Engineering" comic series interesting.

Heroes of Engineering Comic Series (http://anniversary.asme.org/comicbook.shtml)

To celebrate the 125th Anniversary of ASME, a comic series was created to feature an Engineering Hero from each of the the 12.5 decades of ASME's history. While each of the other Heroes got a decade to themselves, the last issue of the series covers the period 1990-2005 and details some of Dean's contribitions to the decade-and-a-half.

The PDF download is of sufficient quality to reproduce on a large printer. If folks need it, a greater resolution version can be made available.

In addition to the December issue, I hope you find the rest of the series worth a look.

Cheers - Vince

Haha, I never thought I would see a comic about Dean, but you learn something new every day! ;)

Oh, and I don't remember there being two center goals in the 2005 competition (look at the illustration of it in the comic). Hmm, I guess my memory is just going bad.

i like how even at a young age...kamen is portrayed in all denim...talk about knowing your subject (he's also looking pretty ripped in a few of those pictures...maybe he's been hitting the gym? :ahh: ).

This is the same comic that was auctioned off at last summer's IRI. Actually Vince and Ron donated 2 copies of this comic: one was auctioned and the other was given to Scott and Libby Ritchie.

Thanks to Vince Wilczynski and Ron Spellman for this great effort and their charitable donation.

I believe that since Dean's father was a great comic illustrator, Dean is in a few old issues as a young boy.... (when he was a young boy)
