my team needs new ideas for a multi purpose cart for our robot... multi purpose being we can move it to and from field, and we can use it to work on the robot... any ideas?

Some teams have a pneumatic lift for their bot, but ours just went simple. The arms that we use to steer our cart can be swung all the way down, effectively turning the cart into a table. It does (in effect) the same thing as a pneumatic lift, but is much simpler.

One note for if/when you make your own is to make it out of aluminum, because hauling around a steel monster is not fun. Steel is much too heavy for the task.

My team also went simple. We use a wooden platform with four pegs that screw into the top to set the robot on and has a set of clapsable legs that are taken from a clapsable bankuet table. It also has an steel handle that is removable and has a fold-down board to put our control board on, and because the robot is raised off the platform we can put tools and bateries on it.

We have been using an extruded and HDPE cart for awhile, but it's probably better that we're going to get a decent cart from Tractor Supply. Actually, steel tube carts are very cheap, as much as if you'd make one. And they're plantly big enough to add onto. But they are heavy.

My advice to your team is to design a cart that is LIGHT WEIGHT. Y u ask? :confused: Because soon as you put tools and spare parts in it it will get mighty heavy!!! :ahh: Also one that has a door or doors that is big enough to put spare parts in. One BIG piece of advice is that it fits through any door in your school. Are doors at school are 35 inches wide. Are cart is 34. Also how are you going to bring it to the events? Make sure its not to tall and can fit in a van for transportation to and from. Good luck.

whatever you do don't make it a hovercraft :P . I have always wanted a robot cart with like side walls that re tool shelves, and mini drawers that hold tools and important parts. JUST MAKE IT LIGHT because it's a pain to move them around.
