Hey all,

I just wanted to make a little announcement that team 814 will not be participating in the FRC 2006 season. Unfortunately, we could not raise enough money. I would personally like to thank Jason Morella for his attempts to raise last-minute funds for us. I am honored by the recognition.

I have several plans to work with the team during the spring and summer (and I'm definitely open to suggestions). We will even be going to Davis and possibly San Jose to support our friends in FIRST, so watch out for us! :]

This will be a sad and slow season for our team, but we will return in 2007 stronger than ever. On behalf of team 814, good luck to you all in 2006.

I'm sorry to hear about 814. I hope you to see you all in 07.
Thanks for supporting your friends in FIRST :)
FIRST is more than building a robot but making a strong community which you all add by supporting and cheering on other FIRST teams. Thanks for that!

Best wishes for your team and hope funding will improve.

I'm sorry to hear about that :(

As for your plans for the spring and summer, don't give up hopes on competing just yet! While you won't be able to compete on 814, look around and contact people - there may be numbers of teams open to taking in students from other schools. My team was in that situation in 2004, and it was amazing how many teams were so very willing to integrate us into their program.

Can you afford off-season competitions? I don't know what regulations for those are, but I'm sure there are a few in California (don't know when), and it would be a great opportunity to work on strategy and things.

Boy can I relate to not being able to raise funds. Fortunately, we were able to squeak in this year. Sorry to hear you won't make it.

We hope to go to San Jose for scouting (look for us) and will be competing at Davis.
PLEASE look us up! We love to have supporters whenever and wherever possible.

(BTW, If you have access to Comcast Sports, try to watch the Sacramento Kings game Sunday evening Dec. 11th. We will be participating in the Pre-Game and during at least one of the time out periods. Look for the robot shooting T-Shirts into the crowd! That will be 1147s 2005 bot re-fitted with a T-Shirt launcher. :D )

Alaina,

That's sad news to hear about one of our closest teams to us. Feel free to come out and visit us anytime and we hope to see you at the Kickoff at UC Davis (123 Science Lecture Hall), its a huge facility and much more roomier than SJSU. I commend individuals like Jason Morella and Jim Beck for really trying to help teams in need, they do a marvelous job that often times goes un-noticed. Sadly Davis HS couldn't raise enough $$ either and won't be back this year. We feel all alone out here in Solano County especially now that there aren't teams in Napa or Yolo this year. So please feel free to visit us, we're just 30-45 minutes down Highway 12 from you and would welcome your team's insight and experience.

Thank you all for your kind words!

Genia: Yes, we could afford off season competitions, if there were any. :(

Bill: How could we not support our former alliance parters? It'll be a bit tough trying to round people up in the middle of spring break, but I can assure you that my sister and I will be fighting over our 1147 shirt come March 24th. :p
P.S.: check out that attachment. aww... <3

Doug: That's a great idea! We hadn't even considered going to a kickoff event. And I'm sure visiting your team would be tons of fun. It may be a bit difficult because, you see, my team has a tendency to be a bit lazy. I might have to start bringing a whip to meetings or something.

See you in Davis!

My wife is working to revitalize the WRRF so CalGames should come off next fall in its usual time slot.

I was just browsing the event page, and it would appear as if you guys are fully registered for Davis (ie: not on the waiting to receive payment list).

Is this an error, or did you guys find some cash?

Alaina,
I know this might be tough for you, but First events are always looking for volunteers. If you want to keep interest up while you look for funding, volunteering is a great way to do it. You also might lend help to teams in your area that need a few extra hands. Hope everything works out for your team.
