i tried to put the new version of ifi onto a laptop problem is ifi is big and all i can use between 2 computers are floppies. i tried about 3 times and did everything i could to make sure that all my files are there and they are but it says some are missing. any ideas of how to get ifi onto the laptop with only floppies???

do you have the internet between both of them? If you you might try and e-mail it or AIM send it. Another way would be to wait 2 days for kickoff and hope the kit comes with one (I can not remember since I do not do programing)

no internet and if the kit has it it'll be on a disk not a floppy

do you mean IFI Loader or MPLAB

IFI Loader is so small that you can move the individual files via floppy or you could always network the 2 computers together and send it that way

If you have an extra serial cabe and ports on both computers, or a LAN cable and plug, you might be able to do it. I however have only heard of doing this and have never actually done this.

Get something like winrar and archive it all, and tell it to split it in to 1.44mb chunks

Copy all the chunks and extract the first one, winrar will automatically proceed to extract them all and reassemble it.

Get a serial or parallel crossover cable and then transfer the file over the cable. I use Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/) and a parallel port crossover to do the job.

Mike

i finally managed to get ifi loader onto my laptop but now i have another problem.
in the bottom corner of ifi loader it says code error and when i go to choose a hex file it comes up with a fatal error. i searched high and low for system requirements for ifi loader and could not find anything. could this problem possibly be because i am trying to run it on windows '95 or is it something else?

I have never used IFILOADER with Win 95 but i know it works in 98

try and uninstall it on that computer and defrag the HD then install it again, sometimes files just dont copy right, also make sure the floppys dont have any currupt data points, i checked all of mine a month or so ago and over half were messed up
