Is it just me, or is this, from the perspective of "early season strategy" and planning out how to play this game, the hardest one yet? For just about every concept and strategy we come up with, we find a reason why it cost cost us big time. This is the most fun and thinking I've ever had with any game on the first day of build season, I just hope it plays as well as it looks like it will.

Yep... I love the game. Simple, yet complex.

Great work game design commitee. (or whatever the heck they called them.)

Its so much to think about because there are so many more possibilties, and there are actually a lot of ways to score. And a lot of possible strategies that arent there on the surface.

So be creative and use your imagination, that always works for me.

And some caffiene! hehe.

My brain doesnt hurt yet, its just getting VERY jumbled.

...For just about every concept and strategy we come up with, we find a reason why it cost cost us big time....

there are engineering processes for dealing with this, listing all your concepts and strategies, and then assigning them numerical ratings for several factors. (like scoring, defense, how hard it will be to design, how hard it will be to fabricate, how reliable it will be, expensive, repairable....)

when you analize your options this way sometimes you are really surprized what the best answer comes out to be.

and an added bonus: it takes the ego factor out of the decision process. If someone comes up with a great idea, they wont feel so bad if it is not used because you can clearly show its too expensive, complex, hard to maintain...

yeah I saw the game and was like "JEEZ!!! My head hurts already!" but then my team sat down and looked at it and while the field makes the game look simple, the tactics and strategy involved is immense... :D about time they gave us a game that gave EVERYONE a headache from day one.

also my team immediatly saw that if you focus on just one thing in this game, you will get lost when the other 5 robots get dumped onto the field with you.

on a random note: it's a pity we couldn't host up a green light in the middle of the field..........effective way of collecting balls in autonomous mode and great for confusing everything :D :D

My brain does hurt a little bit but not as much as last year. There was too much to think about last year strategically. This year there is a lot to think about robot wise. The alliance selection also makes me think a lot. Brain hurts though thinking of an efficient 3pointer mechanism.

WOOOOHHHHHH that is definately a new thing..... Not sure how much I really like that, although I have been on both ends as the Number 1 and number 8 captain so I can see where it comes from.

just thinking about this years game makes me cry. :o
its beutiful to see how well the game design commitee designed this game and how many things ther are to think about

I'm loving it, and I think I've got it figured out and have made an observation which kind of surprises me.

I think that strategies that win regional final's matches (especially with the new alliance picking method) will lose terribly to the strategies that get you to Einstein, or get you to the top of Einstein. It all comes down to how effectively teams can get the balls through the hoop.

My brain hurt about the time the video ended. After lunch a design idea hit me, along with the tylenol i took.

This is VERY important. I realize it's getting late to do this now, but if you can, learn a formal process for selecting designs.

I found it painful for the students our first year we did this, but after seeing the results of our efforts, they couldn't wait to do our pew analysis this year.

i think the main problem here is that there's too many things to choose from :S but as the original subject of the post asks....yes my brain does hurt lol
