Wooo! It's robotics season again!

...and the scores aren't working! (USC won't let my iBook on the network for some mystifying reason. Hopefully I can get on soon--classes start tomorrow!! :ahh: )

In any event, here's the picture:

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pictures.php?s=&action=single&picid=12129&direction=DESC&sort=date&perrow=4&trows=10&quiet=Verbose

And, build season or no build season, the deadline is Saturday at midnight.

Go!

Team 341 wins the 2006 Gullibility Award, not only for being fooled by Lavery twice about the 2006 animation but by this little girl who convinced them she was of high-school age.

In yet another stab at fulfilling Dean's vision, FIRST launches a new pilot program, "Preschool FIRST Robotics". PFR (aimed at 3-4 yr olds) allows preschoolers to control robots disguised as Bob the Builders, SpongeBob SquarePants and Elmo to form alliance partners. GP is taught along with EasyC in the classroom.

Mom and daughter comes to visit team 341's demo.

Daughter: Mom, what does the robot do when I move this thingy forward.

Mom: I am not sure.

... Daughter moves that joystick forward.

(in the background one of the team member screaming...)

team member: WHAT DID I TELL YOU GUYS ABOUT LETTING OTHERS DRIVE THE ROBOT.. OUUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHH... call 911.

Take 1:
After the last time they let this girl operate their robot, team 341 took the precaution of reinforcing their joystick box with duct-tape. :) (Is that legal?)

Take 2:
Shortly before the trial run commenced, team 341's safety captain tried to reassure the dubious flock of onlookers. "We guarentee this robot as 100% childproof. Nothing could possibly go wrong." Nevertheless, the crowd made sure to back well away from the border of the 100-yard-radius "testing zone".
