Anyone else here have a birthday that falls smack in the middle of build season? How do you celebrate it?

...afterwards? :)
Or you could just bring some cup cakes to a robotics meeting, I mean, you eat with them and live with them for 6 weeks anyway, what's to stop you partying with them?
Actually, my birthday last year fell on the Saturday of the regional we attended. It was an excellent way to spend my birthday.
My birthday, which is Jan 20th (Also Inauguration Day :)) is one of those. When I turned 21 last year, I spent all night at FANUC helping the students design our robot. It was so uneventful, that Paul Copioli made fun of me the next night for ordering dinner without "celebrating" ;) because I forgot that I had turned 21!
It usually works out well, though.
::Edit:: Better than my brother's birthday last year, though. He slept through most of it because it was the Sunday after the Championship, and we were flying home that day.

I am unsure of what I will be doing this year. As usual, my birthday falls on the weekend of a Regional. My 18th birthday, I had a blast being in Annapolis and celebrating at HRC. However, this year I will be turning 21, it is my Spring Break, and the team will be competing in Rochester. Plans are TBD.

Cupcakes? C'mon, show some creativity. Last year my wife made a birthday cake for my daughter in the shape of the Triple Play field. Embarrassed her good - our job as parents was fully accomplished that day.

Mine usually happens during the first days of the build season and my team has found it fitting to do the birthday punches :) Now that I'm a mentor and can come and go, I avoid going to meetings on my birthday.

My birthday, the 19th, is usually when we are really getting into things and dont have much time to focus on other things. I think last year i went out to eat with a few friends, but that was basically it. This year im heading it off soon by having a group of friends come over this weekend and strategize together, and just have one slightly sane weekend before the next months of insanity. Of course some type of party/fun will be had at some point though.
Normally instead of asking for presents, im asking for tools and money to be able to go on the trips.

My birthday falls on Feb. 7th this year we'll just have a cake but normally a former students mom makes this GREAT dinner but she won't be making it this year :(

My birthday doesn't fall during the build season but it falls on the day that we head down to the st. Louis regional. Last year I celebrated by squeezing and twisting and empty water bottle so the bottle pops off because of the pressure. i did this in the minivan on our way down and after the cap hit the driver I announce that it was my birthday today. (No one gave me a happy congratulations though, they all just staring punching me :) )

My Birthday is the 9th of February and on my rookie year I would have gotten a bag of dum-dums, but by the time I showed up that night, they had been eaten. We celebrate one of our mentor's birthdays by eating cupcakes however. The main problem with having a Birthday during build season is trying to find a day when you can have a bunch of people over and chill and eat cake.

My birthday is Feb. 13th. I usually don't do anything until after ship because I am so busy with robotics.

our drivers birthday is february 5th and last year her family took me out to dinner at mongolian barbeque and to dave and busters to celebrate after we were done building. it was awesome..
my birthday is april 15th and before atlanta so I'm in the clear.
Mine is January 26th.
I'll go to dinner with my missus but mostly I work, particularly this year.
The time frame to do the animation is very short.
I don't dare give mine (which is in about a week) out to my team (unless it is given out by someone else) due to the fact that at least one of my teammates will be singing "Happy Birthday" to me for about a month. And for family type celebrations, 3 other people in my family have birthdays in the month before mine, so we just celebrate all four together. At least we did this year.

my b-day is 4 days after ship date, at which point i will just be getting back into a normal-ish sleep cycle. what party is this that you speak of? :-)
if i get a party, its usually a month or two too late because no one in my family feels like planning anything. Even this one, my 18th, will probably be nothing special. :(
O well

January 11th for me. My parents threw a suprise party for me with the help of our mentors. It was really fun, we had cake and sodas and stuff. It's fun celebrating with the robotics team.

I think that at least half of bacon has birthdays during build. We eat dinner together every night so we make sure there is cake and we sing. One year our driver got a cake with the CAD drawing of the robot on it. That was neat. But I think we eat cake at least 2 times a week!!
Mine was the kickoff date. I spent it enjoying the kickoff. That was probably the best way I could ever think of to spend it.

My birthday and one of the other students on our team share the same birthday of Jan. 29th.
our parents plan that we have dinner at school everyday we stay durning build season. the other students parents picked the 29th as their day for dinner and planed with my mom to surprise* me at school with a cake toward the end of dinner.
(*it was a surprise because outside of school and FIRST we own a personal business that takes up the rest of our time.)
What a way to turn 18.....:D
