Well, it was brought to my attention the other day that the digital picture frame in my building officially croaked over winter break. (Leading theory: Power surge.)

Since I enjoyed the picture frame, I'm throwing around ideas for a replacement frame. As the older frame (whose internals were a PII-era laptop) had some shortcomings with ease-of-use and durability, I'm inclined to use newer parts in this frame.

At first I started thinking along the lines of a Mac mini driving a decent-sized display, but then I realized that an iPod (either Photo or 5G) could do the same thing with an LCD television for less cash.

Has anyone built one lately? Am I even remotely close to a Real Working Solution?

I have :)
Total cost - $10 for the frame, found the laptop in a discard pile.
