View Full Version : 2006 Camera identical to 2005?
The camera and electronics sure look identical to the 2005 set. Does anyone know for certain that is the case ?
If so, we can use our 2005 camera for development and as a spare which would be nice.

Yes. They are exactly the same.. not sure where I saw this, but it's true.

Yes, I second this. The two cameras are identical. Kevin posted this somewhere, and if you compare the data sheets, they're identical.

I can't see any changes in the camera either, but in "5.4.1 2006 Kit Changes" of the rules it states
"Enhanced CMUcam2 Vision System with new servo driven Pan/Tilt Brackets adds the capability for vision-based tracking of illuminated targets - essential to achieving competitive performance skills in this year's game"
When I first read this It seemed like the CMU cam was "enhanced" some way or another, but I believe it is just in reference to the Pan/Tilt Brackets

Pan tilt brackets and a MUCH improved piece of software to drive it. I'm very impressed with how well it was done this year.

Agreed.
There was nothing wrong with the camera last year - the targets were just too dark and varied under normal lighting conditions.
Now the target is illuminated, and Kevin Watson wrote a much better camera driver.
