You may only use the motors provided in the current year's kit and in the quantity provided with the exception of being able to purchase and use two additional small CIM motors.

For the small CIM motors, you might be able to use two from last year instead of buying two new ones. You'll have to check the Q and A as I believe this is unclear, but may have been answered there.

I'm pretty sure you can use the small CIM motors from last years kit the rules state

"Teams may utilize one or two additional small CIM motors (part #FR801-001) in addition to those provided in the kit of parts. This means that you may use up to four, and no more, small CIM motors on the robot"

I interpret this as teams being allowed to use any CIM motor that has this part number, no matter where the team got it from.

Yes, you can use two 2005 KOP CIMs this year. See this thread (http://forums.usfirst.org/showthread.php?t=253) in the official FIRST Q&A forum. This is also being discussed in this thread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=41717) in Chief Delphi.

Never be afraid to click on links to the official rules.

How about this:

can you use previous year's vandoor motors? The motor specs are all the same, just the housing is very slightly different (the back plastic plate over the worm drive). Any input?

Submit it to Q&A. Nobody here knows for certain.
