View Full Version : FRC easy-c vex encoder function?
Our team has not yet brought easy-c up yet but, my understanding is that the Vex encoder functions are not included with the FRC version of the software. If this is true is there anyway to import them? Our team would like to use them if possible.

The Optical Encoder function block in easyC for FRC works the same was the Vex encoder block in easyC for Vex. This means you can plug your Vex encoder into your FRC controller and it will work as expected. Obviously you will have to change the PWM connector from male to female or use an adapter PWM cable that changes the gender in order to plug it into the FRC controller.

The palette of EasyC has blocks for an Optical Quadrature Encoder (2 channel output with direction sensing) and an Optical Encoder (VEX single output encoder).
The Optical Encoder was put there to support the VEX encoders but simply counts edges and can actually be used with any single output encoder you might have. In fact, you can use it to count pulses from any device including limit switches.
Just remember that the encoder must be used with inputs 1-6 and not any of the others.
