we have been strugling with this problem for days now.
Sometimes the gui works and we get part of the camera configured. And then other times it decides to go into an endless loop while downloading the picture. We are useing fully charged batteries and everything is connected correctally.

I've checked the visa nd we have some issues with that. When I look at the COM1 (thats what the camera i on) it says the connection is buisy even before we load any other software. We are useing a school computer so i dont know what all they have running in the background.

As i said before sometimes it grabs a frame othertimes it sits there and the application doesnt stop. Nothing responds and only by pushing ctrl+q can we stop it. I've tested the camera in hyperterminal, the java gui, and my own application and everything works. What could be our problem and how can we solve it.

What exactly are the circumstances when the application locks up? What are you trying to do? Is it only when grabbing a frame? How about tracking?

Let me know.

only when grabbing frame. it seems to download(light on camera flases) and then nothing. everything else then becomes unresponssive. the tracking and everything else works fine

Please try the test version from 2006.01.25 here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41214). Let me know what this does for you. Hopefully we can find the problem soon. I've been unable to reproduce this behavior at all.. so to fix it, I need a better idea of what's really causing it.

Thanks,
-Joe

Hi there - we need some basic guidance on what to do after we get the camera hooked up - we tried installing labview onto our laptop and it seems to be working fine, and then we tried to find the gui example app, but ended up with a .jar file that labview doesn't know what to do with. We are stumped, even after searching through posts and threads to find on how to make it all work together - we got the red and green lights on the camera and have it hooked up properly, and the cable to the I/O of the laptop. We cannot get the camera to talk to the laptop, which I think is what it's supposed to do prior to getting it to talk to the robot controller, I really don't know, but could REALLY use HELP.... any thoughts?

JavaJavaJavaA .jar file is a Java archive. The file you have is no doubt the java GUI from last year and has nothing to do with LabVIEW. You need to download the LabVIEW CMUCam2 Application from here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41214).
