I'm not bad.
This is Tris. One of my characters from a story I was creating called Advancing Darkness.

I think it would be pretty ironic if I wasn't good at art.
But, I am pretty good at it, so it's all good. :)

can we draw well? Is that a trick question?
I guess you will have to tell us. I drew this sitting on a rock for about 3 hours, with technical pens, a few years back.
Extra points for anyone who recognizes the location!
I'm more of a digital artist, I have a deviantArt account at http://unknowninspiration.deviantart.com

I can draw a little, but I never actually sit down and draw pictures. The last piece of 'artwork' I drew was over a year ago, as I find it too boring.
Here's one I drew a while back. (it's more impressive in real life when you can see the tens of thousands of little dots)

I do mainly two types of art: drawing with a mouse directly on Photoshop or penciling detailed gothic lolita-style anime characters. ^_^ If my teammates allow it this year, I'm going to draw some anime renditions of the animation people as a part of the credits in our animation.

Yes, I do a lot of art. I was accepted to CMU for engineering and RISD for Fine Arts. Kind of a big decision, but I chose CMU.

nope. I found a professional photo online. The guy must have been sitting on the same rock when he shot this.
Its the Bar Harbor Head lighthouse in Maine.

I have to give much of the credit for my drawing skills to one book. I spent a few years trying to learn to paint with oil, when I finally realized I could not draw . How can you paint if you cant draw?
I found a book called "Drawing on the right side of your brain" by Betty Edwards. It teaches you, in order to draw you first have to learn how to see, to really see what you are looking at. The rest is just training your hand to output what your eyes see.
I cant recommend the book enough. Anyone can vastly improve their drawing skills with this book, and every public library Ive ever checked had at least 3 or 4 copies.
the drawing below is an ink copy of a drawing I saw in another book. One of the best ways to improve your skills is to copy great work done by someone else (copying the masters) It took me about three evenings.

I mostly draw cars, pencils or pens for me, no colour other than that, I also draw using MS paint alot, one example is my avatar.
And I am willing to make anyone a robot related avatar, as long as they give me a front, rear or side picture. For car avatars, give me either a front or rear picture.

I think I can draw good freehand, unfortunately, I don't have a scanner or digital camera to show people, but I do draw in Photoshop CS too. I'm new to photoshop, so I'm not as good in it. ^^'
I'm so pleased to see this thread. I am usually the one in meetings at work doodling on my notepad. Sometimes I keep the doodles, not the notes. :p I'm not very good at drawing; horrible at painting, but I'm creative and like trying different things. Lately it's beaded bracelets and earrings - I can make a pair of earrings while driving to work at stop lights. Scary huh? (and they worry about people driving while talking on cellphones...)

I consider myself to be a fairly good artist.
Ask Arefin Bari for a picture of the shirt I designed for his off season competition, Mayhem at the Museum.
This year, I am hoping to work with several other artistic people on my team to make the robot more aesthetically appealing. Two years ago, we decorated our arm with question marks cut out of chrome tape, and painted our arm with the leftovers from a can of $300/gallon car paint. This year, we are incorporating fabric into our robot design (I won't disclose any details just yet!), and we are planning on tie-dying it for a very cool effect. We also hope to repaint and redecorate our crate. Artistic skills have also come in very handy for me when designing brochures, letterheads, sponsorship forms, display boards, and other materials for our team.

Speaking of painting your robot, has anyone ever used a 'Razzle Dazzle' or Jackson Pollack paint scheme on their robot, to confuse the opponent drivers?
It makes the robot look scrambled, and its hard to tell which way the robot is pointing, or what its doing.
Razzle Dazzle paint was used on some Navy ships during WWI. Ive always wanted to paint an old VW bug that way, but Im certain it would end up in a serious accident.
If you are not familiar with this google it. Its a sort of psycho in-your-face camouflage technique
I got homesick and drew this few weeks ago... Not the best quality since it took me 15 minutes and was uploaded on the computer by a digital camera! D:
