it shouldn't be. did you click on it and then save it as a .gif file? it saves as a .gif for me

Here's what I always do, it may be more than necessary but it works. Right click on the image, save picture as, put it on the desktop as an icon or so whatever else you want with it, and go from there. Hope that works for you.
