what is the recommended USB to serial cable for connecting a laptop to the RC?

1293 has one that looks a little different than this one (http://www.usbgear.com/765162.html), but I tried the drivers on my Mac (OS X 10.4.4) and I can use LabVIEW fine with it. We've also downloaded code with the adapter in the past on a PC. Either way, that one -should- do the job for you.

I suggest the 6 Ft. (1.8m) USB-to-Serial Port Cable... Model: 26-183 (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2036258&cp=&kw=usb+to+serial&parentPage=search) that is available at all radio shacks. This is the same adapter that the VEX programming kit has, and if FVC are using it, then i think it is a big hint that it is good. Yes it is a little pricey, but it is worth the quality.

I've seen some have had results with one, but was there any settings or something that had to be set? I tried downloading the code with it but it would not go

edit: Installed the most recent version of the loader and set the com port of the adapter to COM 5, and it works just fine
