what can I do to stop it from downing that please
well if you can find a way to go against the forces of gravity that would be your best option...until then, whatever comes up will have to go down sooner or later ;)

Hi Keith. Explain your mechanism and perhaps we could help. The short answer to your question is "friction." The only question is what form of friction will best help you.

Hehe, Rick, I really think he was joking.
If he was not then... wow.
If you are serious then you can also use spin... but I still have to say "wow".

i think he means going up then going straight back down, right back onto the rack.

Ok heres how it works...
1) Throw the ball
2) Quickly hurry across and hope to beat it to the landing point
3) Attempt to catch the ball without breaking any thing
4) Repeat Steps 1-3
If that doesnt work... giant vaccum cleaner with aloooot of suction

You forgot
5) And don't score any points because that's not a legal hurdle.
(It is left as an excercise for the reader to find why.)

definition of hurdle, ball must hit the floor or another robot before again coming in contact with the original hurdling robot. qed

WOW!
Well, another even year, another ball game. This thread is probably a lot more relevant to this year's game than 2006.
