My gut says this is a joke, but I can't seem to shake it for sure. I mean, those shoulder motors do look awful close to CIMs.

Want to shed some details?

I guess it is possible, but unless it is on a stand, it looks to exceed the height limit.

And where would your flag mount go?

That looks an awful lot like a humanoid robot, by the looks of it, not for competition, but like my team's CASEY (Community Awareness of Science and Education Year-round) shobot. We use it instead of our competition robot to interact with children in schools and community events.

Edit: Maybe never mind about that, I now see possible evidence to the contrary. :ahh:

Holy Shiney Bulbous Metal, Batman! Looks like I'd better start reading How to Survive A Robot Uprising (http://www.robotuprising.com/home.htm). I knew that would come in handy....

I have one word of suggestion: can you cut back on the leet a little bit? It takes like three times longer to read the posts, and after the first time it isn't funny anymore. ;)

Edit:

Please remember, not all CD readers are "leet peeps".

I'm sorry, but this thread really should be raised up on a virtual flagpole and viewed by all.

(And before you launch waves of negative rep at me, I'm in a kinda bad mood too. But if you still wish to do so, keep it down to neutral, please? :( )

Err... <rant>?

So I post a question on CD, knowing that with the Currently Online list reading quite a few people that could possibly have an answer. Obviously, it takes a little time for them to do so. Thus, I surf about CD and reply to a few forums.

Well, I'm the only person actively posting on CD on 401, and quite well known for it among my team members. So the next thing I know, one of my friends comes up and tells me to randomly insert 5 or so :] 's.

*Insert long transcript of me lecturing him on the ethics of doing so on CD*

And then I realized something. People that don't use CD but like causing general chaos (like my friend) can make an account and do something like this thread. With 6 posts and 2 red dots of rep, I don't think our friend here is going to be here much longer.

Now, by this point, you may be thinking... why is a 70 something post person with one dot green rep doing ranting about this?

I do so, because I believe CD is just as much a learning experience as it is a teaching experience. While I don't do anything major, and I'm obviously not known well among the CD community, I still read just about everything that comes through my Portal. Just because I have 70 posts and one dot rep doesn't mean I'm a noob on CD.

Meanwhile, I notice that the one-digit posters take no notice of the obvious bad form, but everyone else slowly beginning to actively flame, even in 1337. I was tempted to join, but I decided that something like this would be a little more effective. Do you really think that QuantumNinja is going to submit to our pleas to stop using 1337? If anything, he's going to just leave CD after he's done causing chaos.

Ok. I think I'm done.

</rant>

Looking back upon it...

...This post is probably pointless.

Ranting about chaos causing users aside, I'd say that would be pretty darn cool to see in competition. But it'd be really easy to flip, I suppose. Could it be used unfairly in an attempt to DQ good teams?

Oh guys come on... the l337 speak was just a joke. I'll talk normal from now on, i promise. I was hoping someone would see the ridiculousness of my typing and get a laugh... but i guess you only got angry... oh well. I'll talk normal from now on. Now get the thread back on track...

If you guys want to see pics of RoboBronco throwing the balls... sure will. Oh and its not bidpedal... because his feet use wheels to move about (notice the 2nd picture). You'll see. YOU'LL ALL SEE!

1. Does it shoot from the head?
2. What are the arms for?

Is this thing actually going to be used in competition?

I don't see the IFI control system anywhere...

The robobronco literally throws the ball with his arms. We originally tried throwing in the typical overhand fashion.. but he was not getting the proper arc on the ball. Therefore we resorted to throwing underhanded like a little girl, but he throws it pretty accurately, and with plenty of range. We also are using a virtual arm control to both move him around and perform throwing actions.

How fast can it shoot? Did you have to develop any fancy control algorithms?

I still can't believe this is going to be in competition...

EDIT: I am still noticing the glaring absence of any IFI control system components; maybe this is your "show and tell" robot (not competition legal)?
