Since we really don't have much else to show, here is a nice picture of the updated wheel we will be using this year. There are a couple of technical improvements from last year worth looking at...

Stupid programmer question: where does the tread go?

Between the black portion and the outer ring, clamped together with the six screws.

As seen on last years robot...

Stupid question, eh?

From the first pic it looked like the wheel curved outward.

you didn't have the wheels exposed like that, did you? (stupid question, but I had to make sure)

Yeah, that's how 968's drivetrain looked last season.

Yes.. the wheels are exposed.

The robot most definitely won't make it to the scrimmage this sunday... we should have a handful of people there though.

No one has noticed the coolest part! ;)

Let's see. I see 6 clamping bolts, as opposed to the original 10. A very nice Hex shaft, which eliminates the custom hub and it's associated hardware. Maybe a thinner web? While this all creates a bit of weight savings, I'm sure it was done to simplify the assembly.

As always, these wheels look fantastic! How often were they taken off for retreads, repairs, etc...? They look just about bomb-proof to me. Now, where's the rest of the robot. ;)

I don't know how you do it Travis. Every year you are able to have the most top quality designing and machining I've ever seen, and you still have time for chroming and anodizing and superb wiring. Nice job.

The wheel shaft is 1/2" aluminum with a hex milled on the end.
