Well, I do believe that Fed-Ex stops pickups at 5 (correct me if I'm wrong) so that's probably as late as you'll be workin!

I'm currently sitting on my bed, next to an edubot controller, tangle of wires/sensors, two backup batteries charging, multimeter and the only reason I'm posting is because I'm waiting for the fresh code to download.

Yeah, I'd say it's about crunch time.

Biggest FIRST lesson this year:

Soft objects do not have standard deflection characteristics.

We may be in trouble...

Well, I won't be working until midnight, but I sure will be working about 22 hours in the next four days on robotics...

Likely 9am-5pm tomorrow (no school), 9am-3pm Saturday, 12pm-4pm Sunday, and 1-5 Monday (no school again), and then when I get there on Tuesday, its all crated up and I get to say bye to it for two weeks...

Not us, we actually somehow got ahead of schedule due to major engineering changes. And, since we had to start from week 2-3 because of administration problems, so I think we're doing just fine. One problem though, it still doesn't have a name!! :ahh:

Yeah, we'll definitely be working until midnight on monday, but we have to get the robot to shipping at 2pm on tuesday. We had a lot of rookies this year, so there was a lot of ball-droppage and we're pretty behind.

Not us that's for sure, I think we really could use the time to perfect somethings here and there, but because of our location and things, anything after 8pm is not an option.

Well, next week is vacation for us, and we're undergoing massive demolition + reconstruction. IE, they've been closing the hallways every day after 3pm (school's done at 2:15) and the entire building will be sealed starting saturday. So our pickup is at 5:00 tomorrow evening. Woohoo? We got in our last minute stuff this evening, /and/ were only there till ~8:30. Then again, a few things are sub-optimal, but we're pretty enthused :)

I get the feeling that I'll be the one sweet-talking the FedEx guy at 5:00 on Tuesday to hang on just a biiiiit longer so we can tighten the one last bolt that takes so much work that it'll look like we're rebuilding half of the robot. Or something like that. ;)

We always have our bot boxed up Monday night or very early into Tuesday morning (before 3am).

Currently our robot is being painted so we'll probaly be working till about 12pm tommorow at school till it closes :( and then at our sponsers warehouse on sunday as long as theyll let us and on monday again as long as theyll let us. Hopefully we'll get it all finished in time.

11AM-6PM or so tonight
12PM-6/7PM Saturday and Sunday
12pm-? Monday.

I also have an essay due + book to finish reading by Tuesday.

Luckily, our only problem is that we haven't a chance to test our autonomous code... at all. Oh, and having "magic smoke" pour out of the bot when the bump sensor's wires short circuited didn't help. We probably will be done late Monday, early Tuesday. (i hope)

I don't think we will be working late. 668 looks to be in pretty good shape. Everything is pretty much working as designed. I don't want to spoil the surprise until we uncrate at Silicon Valley. I am very impressed with this team and the great support they get from their parents and sponsors. I'll give you all one hint:

Can you say "Fire and Forget?"

Well, I dont know about the rest of the team, but i'll probably be working into late monday night...

I'm the sole (student) electrician (and I prefer to do the wiring, as then I know where everything is for programming and competition) and programmer, and I wont get the bot for either thing until sunday at the earliest...

Yipee?

Everything tends to get done, but I would be much more comfortable if this were a week ago...I get the feeling I'll be doing "practice-round autonomous testing" as my sole type again this year...

Well, I'm going to get some sleep while I can- I'll be pulling 14+ hour days for the next few (thats what I get for having a father as lead mentor...heh.)

good luck to all who will be working in the coming 3 days!

I hope we finish the robot in time... we will be working past midnight on monday...

AND HOW late can FedEx pick up stuff this tuesday!?

If we don't finish we will throw parts into the crate and finish the robot at the event! :ahh:

We have to ship on Tuesday during the day, so it looks like we'll be working pretty late on Monday :)

AND HOW late can FedEx pick up stuff this tuesday!?

To quote the scientist in I, ROBOT;

"That my friend, is the right question".

5pm (local time) is the last fed-ex pickup unless you arrange something else special with your local fed-ex supplier themselves and I doubt that will happen.

Anyways, the midnight deadline was very deceiving.

Sure, go ahead and wait till midnight to ship your robot.

Good luck finding someone to pick it up and sign off on it.

Fed-Ex is picking our robot up between noon and 5 pm (how's that for a timespan - geez! ) so at noon, Francios VII will be packed in his beautiful blue crate, ready for his journey to the Great Lakes Regional!

FedEx is coming sometime betweek 8am and 5pm...go figure. So we have to be done by 8am Tuesday. I see the potential for a late night tonight if we run across some sort of catostrophic failure or problem with some component (and I pray we dont).

Well here it is 12:34 am and i think we are not even close to ready to go home. We found out only hours ago that we needed to loose some weight ... no no not people wieght .. robot weight. to make things even worse the amount of wieght yuck 28 pounds before we add the shooter and if we add shooter then we need to loose 48 pounds at least. we are now making holes ... well everywhere. looks like sleep is not happening tonight.

*looks into work area* o.O does anyone else realise how much of a mess wood and metal weight loss can make ACK poor clean up crews.

Well i just got back and it looks like our bot is pretty well done. We just had packing her up and shipping her out at 4:30. That is 4:30 am, meaning in 4 hours from this post.

Just got home around 30 min ago (at 12:05am). We packed up "The Ellenator" at 11:45pm. Drivers, HP, and Coach are selected, robot is done (except a problem child wheel that works, but needs to be checked) and some autonomous coding. We have a pretty good autonomuos, just needs more work on another part. I unfortunately have to be up at 6am to go back to school at 7am :( Won't see sleep for anther 30-45 min after I eat and finally fall asleep.

We wont be working till midnight but we will be working to get some last minute things perfect before we ship. Also we will have a little extra time to practice driving. Then we will pack it up and drive it an hour to the Great Lakes Regional warehouse. :D

My earlier post, i didn't actually think I'd be up past midnight....

1390 finished about 9:30, but we harmony folk we up... well late. It just wouldn't be FIRST without an all nighter. We were listening to the radio on the local station 105.9 and they have a segment called "What the 'heck' are you doing up at 5:30am." Clint, one of the 1604 students called in, and got on the radio saying we had been finishing a robot since 2pm the day before. It was hilarious, or at least hilarious for 5:30 AM. I managed to get home about 7, clung to my bed for 45 minutes, went to class, and took an English midterm. Life is Gooood.

I was there until two and back at five in the morning to get the programming done...It works great though, and now I'm horribly tired.
