Believe it or not this was our first attempt. You can dream about the rest. It took us 3 days to get the processor working but it *seems* to work.
We have many more autonomous modes done but to view those you have to be at the New Jersey regional or Las Vegas regional or Nationals.
No, we have absolutely no problem loading from the human loader.
It is capable of shooting about 3 balls per second - accurately.
We has an almost 4 horsepower drive train. The brakes work well so good luck pushing us.
Good luck to everyone and let us know your thoughts on this.

God bless the camera. That's all I gotta say.

 Your robot looked great in the pic i saw earlier, but now that I've seen it in action i know its great. definitely one of the strongest shooters I've seen so far. I look forward to seeing it in person :D

To Team 25
WOW! Nicely done. 30 points (and likely the 10 point bonus AND going on Defense first for winning Autonomous AND if Car Nack is right, probably the match) just like that.
To the rest of the ChiefDelphi.com community:
What percentage of teams do you think will be able to do this?
I am really impressed. I supposed that this at least a top 5% and perhaps top 1% ability.
Will we see 10 more teams able to do this task (99%tile)? Probably.
Will we see 50 (95%tile)? I doubt it.

we have a simple button box and a flight stick. A camera is also on the bot that does most of the work well all it it lol. I am starting to love that darn thing.

Absolutely amazing. I am truly scared.
One question, it seems as though the turret didn't rotate in the video? Is it just a small amount, or does it not move at all there?

it moved its just hard to tell in the video, the camera is tracking the goal the whole time, so it was moving with every turn

We set the turret quite close to where it is suppose to be when it shoots. If we are off, it will correct itself. Here (http://www.raiderrobotix.org/vids/trackinggreen.wmv) is a video of us tracking the green light. To save weight, we did not use the servos. The camera works itself using the globe motor on the turret.
Truly scared? Me too :ahh:
At the risk of thread highjacking,
[b]To the rest of the ChiefDelphi.com community:
What percentage of teams do you think will be able to do this?I (hope/expect/won't be surprised) to see at least three teams score in autonomous at close to the level shown by 25 in New Jersey next week. Since there are 63 teams registered for that event, that works out to 5%.
Of course this is the New Jersey Regional, so you'd expect to see exemplary performance!

All I can say is:
Thank god you guys aren't coming up north. That is one amazing feat that beast just did.
And brakes. $@#$@#$@#$@#, I knew I was forgetting something.
Note to self: Use fixit window to rig up brakes under 1/2 lb

I know your robot can track the green, but lets see it make some cupcakes!

Note to self: Use fixit window to rig up brakes under 1/2 lb I bet it pulls the rug tight when it slams on its brakes! That was one of the things which amazed when they debuted this robot's granddad: how it stopped on a dime on top of the slippery ramp.

Now that is SWEET!
Thats 30 Points :)
To Dr.Joe, I bet many teams have shooters so I think the only thing that will be a problem will be 2 shooters shotting at eachother's balls :)

So you are saying that all (or many) teams with shooters will be able to drive into position (if req'd) and shoot 10 balls in 10 seconds?
I can't believe it to be true.
I sort of hope it is but I doubt it.

Well, since my team's not buying my idea of dropping a wrench into the gearbox using servos, I guess I'll have to stick to the electronic brakes. So, we'll stop on a twoonie instead of a dime.
I'm still amazed at how well it shoots. I take it you can vary the speed to shoot the balls from different distances, right? So...all we need to do is to strap a glowing green panel onto someone's head and then play a little game of dodgeball...
I agree with Dr. Joe.
Few teams will be that good. That's very impressive.
We seem to forget, everyone remembers the BEST teams BECAUSE they can do the very difficult. There are many many GOOD teams, but they are more forgetable. Not that there is anything wrong with that - it's fun watching the best teams, and it's fun being a good team, or even being us. :)
I think back to last year, when 66 was caping in auto mode, and others were stacking on the corner goals in auto mode - all impressive. All we did was knock down the corner tetra. But you know what? About half the matches we were the only one moving in auto mode.
Ah, let's face it. We are so excitied just to be able to see the green light and move in the general direction of it, while trying to destroy the backboard with a volley of foam death.

We can adjust the speed but we almost never need to unless we are shooting beyond half field. The only variable we have is the balls. We can adjust the shooter so to adapt to new balls or old balls but not both. We have a medium setting but then some balls will go farther and higher than others but not a whole lot of difference - just a slight. At that point, it is a matter of luck for most teams except for those awesome catapult bots. Otherwise though, this thing works like a charm and gets those balls in every single time. We have taken this apart, changed it, and put it back together over 9 times through the season. It's been quite an adventure.

Actually we are making a vest with a backpack for the battery and sending the freshmen down the gauntlet between the two robots....
ooops- there are TWO of them!!

we also learned some practical mathematics about projectile motion, navigation and angles of inclination-
we had to since until Monday morning we set up the auto modes without an FRC controller that worked. For 2 days we shoved balls into the shooter manually with a 2x4 .
