For me... now is the time to catch up on some missed sleep, catch up on some school work, and maybe get ahead on some school work before regionals.

The team will put together Circumstance, our practice robot, and proceed to beat the stuffings out of it to figure out what'll need fixing at Palmetto. We'll also hopefully create a pit space (a first for us) and do all those other pesky things we neglected to do during build.
Personally, I'll be catching up on my rest (I've done well when it comes to schoolwork during build) and commencing work on a research project I've been working on for Preston College (http://www.prestoncollege.org), my dorm residence hall residential learning community residential college, involving robotics. Fwahaahaa. ;)
Boredom sets in until the regional. On the bright side, I've got some plans for how to machine a lightsaber...

well, we'll meet to discuss strategy, make parts (spares, maybe into another bot) and a few other things need work like finding a driver using last years bot. Still meetings daily.........tooooooooooooooo much :o
Me: Hi, Honey - I'm home!
Wife: Must have shipped the robot today, huh?

Gee that's funny. I didn't know you were staying at my house, Mike ;)
I got a chance to see my oldest son's karate class for the first time this winter tonight. After that I'm going to sleep, going to pay a little more attention to my actual job, maybe even notice when the sun goes up and down.

I think we are going to find interesting new uses for our 2 older robots, including improving the one that we have already converted into an air cannon :D
Let the good times roll.

So that's why you're never busy when I come into your class in the middle of the day.
Now that the robot is finished, its time to go back into the real world... Not sure if I want to go back though...

I tried to be strong, I tried to not think about the robot....
Will I think of you?
Only when I'm sad and lost, tired of trying
when the tears and pains of the world all seem to be mine.
When there is no one but you who would really understand
the emptiness of my soul, the sorrow of trying and failing,
of knowing that life can be a trial
where the judge and jury sometimes sit with faces of stone,
and will not respond even to a cry from the truest heart.
When I know that you, and only you could see all this
and hear all this and be with me in my time of sadness
in silent understanding
and shed tears for my sorrow,
Then I will think of you
Only when I'm alone staring out my window into space...
Which becomes you
Your love smiling back to the warmth of my heart,
Filling the emptiness, the lonliness, with your being.
Only then, will I think of you. -Leonard Nimoy

Robot gone? Now time to make a second one. The fun starts all over again.
same here, so the drivers and human element can practice more, and we're making bets on what our robot actually weighs, plus cleaning the shop, promoting our bot, and packing stuff for the comp, last year as rookies the team pretty much brought the shop with them, this year, what we bring is more practical, and I think the only other thing we're doing is making autonomous codes and coming up with game strategies.
when we our bot got picked up today we tried to ask if we can open it and say our last good-byes and quite possibly stuff one of our team members just to make sure the bot will be safe.

Re-acquaint ourselves with normal sleep patterns and family members...
We pulled off a major marathon session in the past week. Unfortunately, we didn't participate in the SoCal pre-ship scrimmage hosted by our partner team, High Tech High, because we were in hyper-panic mode. We received some very gracious assistance from teams attending the scrimmage, especially team 599 - Thanks, again!
Monday morning our two major assemblies were weighed and we came in at almost 150 pounds :ahh: . It's amazing what can happen in a little over a day. We put a robot in the crate today with all of our planned features available - with three fewer motors than in the original design. We didn't get much time to test for effectiveness and still have some trades to make at our first regional, but this afternoon we shipped a robot just under 120 pounds. The students and Wendy Wooten from Team 4 put in a tremendous effort and we think it will pay off big time later.
I'll try to post some photos later...after a bit of recovery time.
Go practice with the pit orchestra until regionals, then go back to pit orchestra until the spring musical is over.

1. let my hands heal.
2. Begin the ball launcher competition. Very few restrictions, mostly nothing explosive or dangerous to operate. Should be interesting.
3. Figure out how to get the last 2-3 pounds out of the robot. (We already took over 15lbs out of it this past weekend.)

Well our team, 399, is wrapping up our Chairman's Award and Woodie Flower's Award submissions. We are also running some final membership paperwork for the FLIRT, FIRST League of International Recruitment and Teamwork, network (www.team399.org). All along we have been working on our team website and have been updating it with all the latest the net has to offer, including an 8-minute video shown at our media event. So needless to say we will continue to be busy, but with the added sleep not had during the six weeks .

Surf Chief Delphi, evidently. Did you see there was a new high number of users at 9:43 pm yesterday?
Forget sleep. I have weeks of work to make-up. We're gonna work on a launcher now, just to see if we can do it now that we have all the extra time. Shipping day was so much fun though, despite the fact that my team members tried to shrink-wrap me to the crate :yikes:
Lots of sleep.
Lots of practice.
Lots of homework.

The students will get back to WOW (they have been having major withdrawal during build) I have a few that are working on replacement parts, I'm sure something will break! Myself, make sure all the travel arrangements are right. There is always something to do!!

My minds distracted and diffused,
My thoughts are many miles away,
They lie with you while you're asleep (in your crate)
and kiss you when you start your day.
(apologies to Paul Simon for tearing and straining his song :^)

Sleep. Relax. Work on getting more content for team website. Finish homework. Sleep. Surf ChiefDelphi and your own team forums. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Start thinking about competitions. Finish our 2006 operator interface. Sleep. See your family (if they are not mentors on your team) for more than five minutes in the morning and at night. Work on other projects. Start thinking about my next Vex robot again. Did I mention sleep? :p
I did something I should have done a long time ago.
I got a haircut.
Crazy, but most barber shops aren't open between 8p and 6a.
Who knew?
