View Full Version : Veteran Team Pics Missing?
Where are all the pics of those infamous veteran robots that everyone is salivating to see?
We've seen some......but where are my perennial favorites, Wildstang, HotBot, Beatty, Kingman, 118, Truck Town, Killerbees, Thunderchix, etc.
Getting anxious! :ahh:

Thunderchickens already released a picture.. It looked like a vertically mounted rotisserie. Look through the pic gallery for the CAD of it.
As for my team personally (even though we are not on your list :( ) I know that we are resting/putting media together for a release pic/video.
I would expect the same is true of the others.
I'm working, and waiting as to see everyone's pics/vids as well.
I saw the Thunderchix CAD...I even talked to Paul about the design, but I haven't seen the finished bot!

I figure most are doing something like this!
I just get anxious waiting to see the best-of-the-best!

Confidentiality is a big thing for us this year. We came up with some great stuff and we wouldn't want to see our ideas taken. I guess you'll just have to wait and see those teams robots at competitions or hope pictures from competitions with them in it will be posted. As for me I can't wait to 66, 67, 71, 111, 322, 469, 302, and 1126. This year should be an interesting year; I know it has been for us!

:(
Nothing worse than cool stuff that doesn't get seen. Besides, build season is over. If people are stealing ideas now, shame on them.

I know we're not one of the vet teams thats usually looked towards, but if you haven't given our bot a glance yet, check it out here:

You most likely won't get much out of 71 except for maybe a commercial or a rap ;) . On the other hand, 45 should have something soon, very soon.

Well sorry to burst the bubble, no pics from 1126 coming from me unless we are in the same matches and stuff.

While I as well like to look at the pictures posted on CD, there are several reasons I don't post pictures:
1. Even though teams are not allowed to make any changes after the ship date, there could be something seen to give them ideas and even if they follow the rules and don't build anything after the ship date, they can design and plan for the Thursday.
2. By seeing other robot designs, teams can plan before hand on how to defend or defeat it.
3. I personally like the surprise and excitement of uncrating a robot that nobody outside the team has seen at the first event.
So... You won't see 830 or 469 pictures from me...
71 never shows their robot til the first regional they participate in.
No one is required to show their robot though I think it's silly to hide it.
It's not like they're not going to figure out how to deal with your robot on practice day.

My sentiments exactly. To each his own.
We've put our pictures out uncensored. Please feel free to study them and develop strategies against the design! If anyone is interested for more detail please ask.

Lol, the "big name" teams never release their robot until the big competition day. That would be like getting your birthday presents before your birthday. It's just not right.

So what's the details about your pretty robot?

Well to adress your mention of Truck Town, there are a couple of reasons that no pictures exist.
Traditionally we haven't posted pictures just to keep an aura of mysteriousness about, but also we work in a building where cameras are frowned upon, so even if we wanted to it would be difficult at best.
Of course, it doesn't help that we finished the robot a few minutes before putting it in the box ... ... A photographer would have a hard time getting a picture without someone working on it

I would also like to add that Truck had a bad experience with releasing pictures early. It was the stack em' High year. After we had shipped the robot we posted pictures of our ability to both block the top ramp and both sides of the field with our wings, all completely legally. Well there was a rule added on the next update againts that strategy. So I wouldn't recommend releasing pictures, especially mind boggling we beat the game pictures.

Oh yeah, I remember that legend being recounted to me. That would be the main reason for our tradition: FIRST declaring our robot illegal while it is in the mail.

If you want to open this can of worms again (which I really think you don't), you're still wrong, just as you were 3 years ago.
a Q&A which came out 3 weeks after build started clearly stated your design was illegal. That's nowhere near the "after ship update"
You all should have been happy that we gave you fair warning you'd have to modify your design so you could compete. Otherwise you would have shown up to your first regional and found out that you had never read the Q&A questions that disallowed your robot, completely screwing you.
Reccomending other teams against releasing pictures of their robots, so as to not "screw them" when they find out they overlooked parts of the rules (or blatantly exploited something that they thought was a grey area) is far more damaging to these teams than showing pictures and giving themselves time to design a fix before regionals.
That was harsh. Okay, I wasn't there so I don't know the whole story. But anyway that experience kind of made our advisors gun-shy about posting pictures, even though we didn't bend any rules this year.

I am sorry if that came across as being anti picture posting, I was just explaining why Truck doesn't generally post pictures anymore, right or wrong. I am just giving an example of somthing you may want to take into consideration. No can o' worms need opening here.

I will submit the photo of the HOTBOT for 2006 that we submitted to the TIMS system. We will uncrate it first at the Great Lakes Regional. We will not gather from the floor, but load from the player station. See you in two weeks. Good luck to all teams..

You can see a few pics of 322's Fire Hazard 2006 with the link below. This was taken on the 20th, and there was a little bit of brainstorming that added a couple features on the 21st. This is the basic 'tho. Gotta love diamond-plate guarding!!

I'm going back on what I said earlier and after talking with the team, we would like to share the 469 robot with CD...
I'm posting it now with a link to some videos... We are proud and anxious to hear what everyone thinks...
See you at GLR, Detroit, and Atlanta...
