Please teams, remember your team will succeed more if you have a clean pit. Know where all of your "stuff" is and have it organized. I challenge all teams to keep their pit spotless this year. Anyone else want to challenge that? This way, less bolts will be lost, people won't ask "where did that thing go?" and you will overall be put in a better mood. (Hopefully) So, who's with me for clean pits!?!?!

We had an aweful pit in Phoenix. We are spending money to make sure we have a better one in LA. We too feel that a good pit space is a necessary thing to have.

In NJ we always have coats all over the place-
so this year we brought a standing coat rack and all the coats were neatly in the corner. It was the best idea in years!!

Because we had a clean pit (and other reasons) we have won the safety award many times. Twice last year and once this year so far. We were also in the top 3 for nationals. A clean pit is a happy pit, a clean pit is a controlled pit, a clean pit is a safe pit.

48 has won the UL Industrial Safety Award at both regionals we have attended this year (New Jersey and Buckeye). Donnell Conner, our resident Captain Safety, prides himself on the organization and cleanliness of our pit area. We wholeheartedly advocate creating and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.

One team at Philly (I don't remember which... sorry about that) Handed out a dustpan and small brush to teams along with a few other things. When it came time for us to drill a few brackets and other things for our robot, it became pretty useful. With about 8 people in our pit area at once, we couldn't afford to have a whole lot of mess everywhere...

i have found-- being in the pit-- that if you keep it cleen and keep just the pit crew and drivers in the pit the it works well... and the less cluter you have then better...what i have been doing is when the teams give out the info sheets and other things i have an envelope for it ...i leve it out untill the day is over and put it in to the envelope and it keeps the paperwork off of the tables and everything looking neat and tidy and working well like a well oiled machine.
one thing we have noticed about our pit is that a maximum of maybe 3-4 people in it is nearly too many, so not only do we try to keep it organized but i think i shocked one of our teacher mentors when i asked him to leave because there were too many people in the pit.
because back me up on this, my fellow robo-geeks, but people standing around doing nothing in and in front of the pit is really annoying. cause not only is it hard to move around but it is incredibly unsafe at times too.
