The FIRST song (version #1 - sounded like the outback steakhouse commercial!)

During the final rounds of eliminations, I swear it should be a FIRST requirement to play the FOX Football Theme song.
In any case, this year there's been a lot more variety in the song selection of the regionals we've attended and its been quite a bit more enjoyable for everyone because of that!

I've always been partial to Sirius by The Alan Parsons Project (thanks Mr. Morrella for helping me finaly find out what that song was!)

Oh, easily Won't Get Fooled Again, by my favorite band, The Who!
"YEEAAHHHHHH!!"
It was played in part when they actually unveiled the Aim High field at Kickoff which was awesome, but they played it in full at the Hartford Regional.

Well, I haven't been to a regional yet this season (my team is going to Philly next weekend), but I remember the DJ being especially good at Chesapeake last year. On another page, I noticed some of you are talking about "mandatory" competition songs. Check out Dan Swando's list in his white paper on competition DJing (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/1808) to see what he considers mandatory songs.

Wow, Thanks coastertux for alerting me to that play list. I have been looking I guess in the wrong places for a list like that for about a year.

Definitly Final Countdown, YMCA, and The Macarena

At our team social, we had Dean Simmons and the Kamen Brothers play...pretty much all of their songs rocked...lol. Especially, "You Gotta Keep It Lubricated" we cracked up so much during that one.

Yea, it's that Let's Get Ready to rumble and all other songs Remix. Not sure if it actually has a name.

They played Castles in the Sky at Buckeye...my whole team was singing along swaying our arms.

Actually, the one you're probably referring to is Sirius, by The Alan Parsons Project. Jason Morrella answered this question earlier in the thread (I asked it). It's only "mandatory" at west coast regionals because of Mr. Morrella, or at least that's what I ascertained

even though they played it like 5 times every day at pittsburgh, we like to party...the six flags song. it's hard to make me hate a song. the YMCA, Macarena, the Cha Cha Slide, and Cotton Eye Joe i love dancing/trying to (cotton eye joe) dance to them. the song that was played i think at both BMR and pittsburgh during elimination is TNT by AC/DC (listening to it right now actually) completely..i can't even put it into words..pumped(?) up the match. thunderstruck and final countdown are some of my favorite songs. i just love music..come and see me in the stands..i sing just about every song lol. i've actually gotten yelled at for singing every song

Like others said, its Sirius by Alan Parson's Project.

Now, if anyone could tell me the song that they played at the end of the closing ceremonies when everyone was leaving the stands (specifically at Sac, but I'm sure I've heard it before at other regionals), It'd be much appreciated. I can post a small clip that was caught when I was filming our team leaving if needed.

I like pretty much anything they play that is classic rock, other than Mr Roboto, it's ok maybe once in a while, but not 5 times a day, I'd love to have my iPod play through the competitions (yea, not happening, i know) about 50 hours with NO repeats :P during the hip hop / pop / modern rock songs, you will usually see the trademark white earbud(s) in my ear(s).

At LA, around the Saturday lunch break, I'm pretty sure I heard one of my favorites: "Be My Escape" by Reliant K. (I was in the pit at the time, but I heard a snatch of the chorus and recognized it.)

i know they usually play We are the Champions by Queen at the end when the winning teams go up and as well My Hero by the Foo Fighters is always something they seem to play in the closing ceremonies. my fav was last year at GTR when the played an Anti Flag song.

At SVR they (appropriately) played that for the WFA award. I'm pretty sure it's used at other regionals for that too.

There where a few goods songs that I have heard like Big time by Peter Gabriel. I have also heard a few one hit wonders that were good like Hocus Pocus by Focus.

I have a few suggestions for the Canadian comps, lets ply some more Canadian artist like instead of we are the champions after the finals, play One Little Victory by Rush (implies that you are one your way to another harder comp, Atlanta) and another good band is 54-40 one song from them I do suggest is Unbend your mind.

That is my 2 cents!

Not sure if it was played this year, but I had stuck in my head all last year at FLR Zombie Nation's Kernkraft 400... hummed it to a dozen or two people before someone finally knew what the hell I was talking about and kindly gave me the song name :D

The variation at FLR this year was great and I didn't hear (besides required songs such as We will rock you by Queen) songs replayed more than twice. It was great and I really hope the music continues to be varied!

Alright, that was amusing the first time, it was even sort of amusing the second time. But during the awards ceremonies when they played it 7 times in a row? We wanted to cry. And then we said we were all going to learn it and sing it when it comes on at nationals. We will then watch the rest of the team try to figure out how on earth we know it. (only 3 of us went to watch Boston) :) :)

I have to give serious props to the DJ at Wisconsin.
Choice of song=thunderstruck by Ac/dc

This song was precisely timed with one of the rounds and ended EXACTLY to the second of one of the round finishing.

It was awesome.

Nice job Dj

Now somebody please BAN that cha cha slide crap. BORING and Stupid

During the Wisconsin Regional, Wildstang and/or Winovation kept messing up the scoring system because they would shoot too many balls at once so it would take them awhile to set it back up again, and a couple of times they would play the cha-cha song or YMCA or Macarena and all the mascots would go down and dance on the field. A couple of members from my team and I and some members from other teams would go down and dance on the field with the mascots. That was amazing.

Would that be "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen? That's my new favorite song because of the timing at Chesapeake; we were walking off the field after our last match of Friday, it was our 8th win in an undefeated day..."Another One Bites the Dust" played, and I cracked up and started singing along.

Well, since I am on team 418, and our nickname is Purple Haze, my vote goes to Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix.

And, a funny story...
Last year during the finals I went down to the DJ and asked him to play Purple Haze. He did a search and didn't find it, so he asked me who it was by. A little suprised I said "Jimi Hendrix" so he did a search for "Jimmy." I gave up and went back to the stands, only to hear Purple Rain start.

GTR HAD THE BEST MUSIC EVER!!!!!!!!

I loved all the mashups (who could hate a Britney Spears - Toxic vs Usher - Yeah mashup? As soon as I heard that I was like.. hey.. I have that. SWEET!!!), and I'm sorry I missed the Rob Zombie song..:(

Whoever was the DJ at GTR needs to be the DJ at our (yet to be announced) division in Atlanta..

The DJ at GTR is one of the reasons I want to go there next year.
Just one reason, but a big reason.

The Final Countdown by Europe, is the greatest song they can play at any regional. It was our team's official theme song my freshman year (we had a laptop with a timer set up in the pits to play it 5 minutes before we needed to que), and I will force it upon the club next year again.

In addition I need to hear Song 2 (by Blur) and Sirius (it's just not the playoffs without it) at least once at a regional. And throw in Cotton Eyed Joe, YMCA, or Macerana for the mascots to dance to (but please not all of them in a row!).

At the MWR this year, Team Striker, 101, used a Blues Bother's theme. They gave the CD to the DJ and every time they took the field he played another cut. The crowd went wild. The opening music to the original film...
"She caught the Katy
And left me a mule to ride
She caught the Katy
And left me a mule to ride
Now my baby caught the Katy
Left me a mule to ride
The train pulled out
I swung on behind
Crazy 'bout her

Our home town, Austin, loves music of all kinds.
One kind of music that is drawing crowds young and old is swing.
Our DJ played some swing on Friday and our mascot immediately started swingdancing with one of our team members.
Then they just sort of floated off down the stairs to get a soda or something. It was way cool.

After the second final match ended in Palmetto, and we won, they played this song called Celebration by Fun Factory. [I swear] They pulled it off a Dance Hits collection you'd buy to play at your daughter's sweet 16 in the 80's. It's so cheesy, but I loved it.

Changes - David Bowie was my favorite at Waterloo and it just came on as we were changing who our human player was. :)

"Around the World" by ATC is an often used match song at regionals and I enjoy it. When I hear it anywhere, it makes me think of FRC tournaments.

Enter Sandman, only because it came on after we requested it, right at the start of teleoperated mode, and we won that match by a landslide. As soon as it came on, we (the drive team) got so pumped up that we drove out of our minds!

The make or break match for my drive team in Minnesota was preceeded by "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" by Jet. I couldn't decide if I loved or hated the song, so I decided if we broke out of the semifinals that I'd love the song.

Other than that, "Robot Rock" is probably my favorite Daft Punk song, so if that plays I'm always pumped.

As is the staple at New England Regionals (VT, NH, MA, ME, CT, and RI), Sweet Caroline during the timeouts in finals always relaxes the energy seen (especially at BAE/GSR) during finals.

Maybe but last year they didn't play "Breakaway" much. I only heard it once.
