View Full Version : FVC at FIRST Championship
Atlanta is only about a month away, so I thought that there needed to be a thread about it.
When is a complete list of teams going to be released? And does anyone know if there will be poles in the pit area for hanging team and/ or sponsor banners?
Best of luck to all teams!
The public agenda is in green on http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2006/regional/agenda/2006_Championship_Public_Agenda.pdf - The team list (as of 4/7/06) is posted here - http://www.usfirst.org/vex/events/2005-06/FVC_Teams_for_Championship_040706.pdf - and I'm getting very excited about meeting all of you down in Atlanta!
We are in need of volunteers for the Vex tournament so if you know of anyone interested in helping out, please have them e-mail me or PM me! Thanks!
Well, the date is drawing closer and I'm getting very excited about meeting all of you who will be attending the FVC tournament in Atlanta next week! For those of you who have offered to volunteer, a BIG THANK YOU and I look forward to working with you. The folks at FVC have been working round the clock to make this a fantastic event and a memorable experience for all involved.
NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) will be holding their Annual Meeting on Thursday from 12:30pm to 2:00pm in GWCC C-104 (right outside the FVC pits) and is now open to mentors from ALL FIRST programs. If you want to learn more about our support group for mentors who deal with the non-engineering side of FIRST teams, plan to stop in and say hello.
Hope you all have a safe journey and I will see you on da Vinci!
Life is pretty simple: You do some stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of what works. If it works big, others quickly copy it. Then you do something else. The trick is the doing something else.

I wonder how the BeerBottleBot will handle the auto loaders on the field. ;)
Can't wait to see these machines in person!
My team will be there, can't wait to see everyone.
If anyone is looking for some good places to go/eat check this page out (http://eaglevex.syraweb.org/WhileinAtlanta.htm)

Sorry, but I'm willing to bet it is a display-only gig.
We probably won't see these tangling with any FVC robots. ;)

I'm upset to say that due to complications with the school system (too late in the year to fill out forms for a new field trip, at least that's what we heard :/), FVC 18 will not be returning to Atlanta this year to defend our title. :(
Hope you guys have a blast, if it's even half as fun as last year, I know you'll all love it! Good luck to all the teams competiting down there this weekend, I look forward to competiting against you again next year.

FVC 4 is Carolina Academy, also home to FRC 507. They apparently share a site: http://www.carolinaroboteers.com/
Does anyone know if daVinci will be webcasted? I am missing the Championship, and I will be very curious as to how the FVC Tournament goes.
Good luck to all teams!

Yep--and they've got a big screen in the pits, just like the others.
I was at the Dome earlier today, and the fields look GREAT. The hardboard for the backs has been switched out for plexiglass, and the sides of the ramp have been painted. They look a lot better than they did at Orangeburg (not that the Orangeburg fields were particularly ugly or anything).
I'll be there tomorrow--look for me in one of the zebra shirts. Should be a blast!
(You know, FVC might be South Carolina's best chance to claim its first ever world championship in any competition.)

Congrats to team 268!. You guys were great partners when we won the Delaware Regional. I knew you would go far. 1148 what a great bot. I loved that trap door. Team 46 really worked hard on upgrading their bot since Delaware.
This year's pilot season was great. With IFI taking over VEX I am really excited with FVC's future.
Congratulations to teams 1148, 268, and 46, the new FVC Champions! South Carolina will just have to wait until at least saturday ;)

Eh, I knew our chances were kinda tough when the two alliances with SC teams (111 and 4) were against each other in the quarterfinals.
Regardless, congrats to the champions and the award recipients:
Think Award: FVC 108, The Mafia Bots, Petersburg, VA
Create Award: FVC 158, The Driven "Nuts", Broomall, PA
Amaze Award: FVC 96, The Robo Warriors, Mullins, SC
Connect Award: FVC 78, The Myotonics, Sharon, MA
FIRST Vex Challenge Award: FVC 160, Impulse, Waterbury, CT
Also, big ups to the Contrapption team (FVC 124?). Their robot was ridiculously effective--and the team was just a father and son. The fact that we've got FVC teams springing up in places other than schools in just the first full season makes me quite optimistic about the future of this competition.
Congratulations to ALL of the teams who made their way to Atlanta for the FVC Championships. You were all gracious and wonderful competitors. And I'd also like to thank all the volunteers who helped us on DaVinci - you guys were awesome! T H A N K Y O U ! ! ! :D

I would like to congratulate everyone who competed. I meant what I said at the awards ceremony... Everyone that competed was a winner. The judges had to choose 4 teams for awards and we did... But had there been more awards we would have loved to have honored more teams.
I hope you will all be part of this event next year!
Thanks to all those who made this a spectacular event.
The teams and volunteers on DaVinci definitely rivaled the enthusiasm and energy of their "big brothers" on the other four fields. Standing there watching the excitement of the competition, and talking to the many students involved, I know that Vex has a big future. I can't wait to see where things progress from here!
Hope to see everyone next year!
