I'm not gonna lie.
I'm not too fond of the color, but if I had the money today, I would so buy this right now!

wow, that's so cool! I always see them at competitions, maybe someday I'll get to test one out... I must admit, the color is a little bit strange, but it's still super cool! :D

*shakes head* Some things are better left unchanged. This item now adds segways to that list...

how can you change the size and weight of the wheels and tires that much, without being able to adjust the stabilty control parameters ?!

What if the answer is Adaptive Robust Control? Is there a chance Segway has self-tuning PIDs? I'd believe it..
You guys don't like that? i don't like the color either but as a whole i'de give it an 8!
How about this Fine Piece of Cash on wheels? (http://cgi.ebay.com/Pedicab-Segway-PEDWAY-Haul-People-w-your-Segway_W0QQitemZ7229305471QQcategoryZ47351QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem)
Elgin, be honest. The only issue you have with the color is that it would clash with your car.

It's gotta balance for fat, skinny, short, tall, light and heavy people. It should be able to handle a little change in the undercarriage. And anyway, it's for show, like one of those cars with stereos so loud they make corn ears bleed.

yes it has to adapt for a range of riders, but the rotational inertia and the torque/speed response of the wheels and tires is a major parameter of the PID control loop.
I would expect the Segway to be squirrely if you change the size or weight of the wheels.
If its just for show, why pay all that money for a functional unit - why not get a Segway mechanical sample (none functional) if it will never be ridden?
ITS SPINNING MAN ITS SPINNIN!! lol spinnin segway rims.... WOW

Take a close look. Photochopping anyone?
The Segway might be real, but it's obviously chopped onto the driveway photos. Check edges, shadows, and the fact that the perspective is 1. weird (see handlebar(s?)) and 2. the same in multiple photos.
Nice paint job, though, if it's real.
Personally, I would prefer to have it candy-apple red with orange flames, and leave the skull off the front. I would drop the spinners, and instead of chrome I would want gold anodized aluminum wheels.
Add a small motorcycle license plate that reads [GO 604]. :D
What came first: the student or the mentor?
Man I have ridden a segway at natss last year and it was so sweet. You learn pretty quickly how to work it.

yea, that is pretty cool, it would be awsome to have something with nice fenders and i would also get the gold wheels instead of spinners.. Hehe, i too have driven a segway once, at our team kickoff in our rookie year, the representative from Convergence Education Foundation brought his and let our team try it out :D
tx for the link

I sent a email to the person who won the auction, asking if they have received the segway, and whether it was as shown? Will let you know if I get a reply.
