Team 1511 is proud to announce the formation of the 2nd annual All-Rookie Meet & Greet (ARMAG) at the world championship in Atlanta. This event was well-attended in 2005 and we need YOU to make a difference for 2006! Show-off your pride as a rookie team!
When: Friday 4/28 at 11:45am
Where: On the mall outside between the Georgia Dome and the WCC "pit" building
What: A great way to get all the rookie teams together
Why: Because we've got some great info & prizes to hand-out.
Really why: Because we want to show the world the power of rookie teams and maybe want to meet Woodie & Dean in person (rumor mill control)
So tell all your rookie teammates to come to the ARMAG....It's "the must-do" event for the 2006 championship.
As an aside, we will again be asking for "a book and a buck" where teams bring used paperback books and we'll box them up and ship them to the US troops overseas as one of our continuing "thunderbolts" of community involvement for www.operationpaperback.org
BE THERE....That's an order from the "General" of Rolling Thunder!
As an aside, here's the complete list fo all rookie winners from all the regionals; congrats to everyone: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/1815

Last year, I think we might have held this event on Thursday (practice day) just before noon. The Chiefdelphi organizers are also hosting the "group hug" for CD users on Thursday, so if you rookie teams think that an all-rookie meet & greet is better ehld on Thursday, we can easily do that......
Let us know here....
Ill try and get my team there(assuming that we arnt fixing our bot . . . ya ever notice that when you dont have the thing in the shop the only thing you can think about is ways to make it better)

Hey rookies,
where can you get some cool prizes for free?
where can you get copies of great robot-building books?
where can you go to learn all about the other rookie teams at the world championship?
Come to the ARMAG
Friday at 11:30 on the mall between the pits (GWCC) and the Georgia Dome
Team 1511 is again sponsoring the All-Rookie Meet & Greet event; a well-attended fun event started in 2005.
***bring a used paperback book and a dollar. We'll be shipping the collected books to OperationPaperback for the US troops overseas! (No romance novels please)
Look for a paper flyer in your pit area (rookie teams only) as well as an e-mail announcement to your team or stop by the RollingThunder Red Camo Club (our pit) for details.
Hey Doug!
Do you have the stats on how many books were collected for OperationPaperback during last year's ARMAG at the Championships?

We are again supporting "Operation Paperback" at this year's All-Rookie Meet & Greet event (Friday at 11:30 on the outside mall).
Operation paperback (www.operationpaperback.org) is a really great organization that gets groups to collect used paperback books to then be sent-off to the troops overseas.
Last year, team 1511 collected in excess of 100lb. worth of paperback books at the FIRST championships in Atlanta. I estimated that we collected about 300 books last year. So....bring more books to the ARMAG event or to the team 1511 pit area this year!
In total, Operation Paperback has shipped more than 400,000 books to soldiers overseas. many of their operating bases have ZERO stuff to read, so this is a big thing for the troops to get some Tom Clancy-type books to read.
