There are many RampCamper bots (shoots from the ramp)
Which 2 teams are your favorite. and Why? What makes them better than others?
I'd have to say my favorite, because they were our alliance leader at SoCal and led us to the regional win, was 968, would easily dump ball after ball into the center goal.
Another would have to be 599. During the qualifiers, they had used their strategy nearly flawlessly and had gotten on the ramp to dump their balls into the center goal. During the finals, the other alliance of 968, 1138, and 4 had figured out a strategy to counter that and so 599 had been stopped by 1138 and only had been able to get one ball into the center goal (if I remember correctly) during the three matches, first one being a tie.

its all about 254/968 and 703
the poofs/rawc alliance because that robot is unbelievable, beautiful, and functional
they led our alliance at socal and were so well suited to ramp camping that it worked out when we became a guard for them
703 because at GTR they could shoot 30 balls a round without a hitch until we stopped them in auton, they got on the ramp and could just get those balls in like nothing (amazing) but our "flying robot" saved the day

I'd have to sat 365 and 703. These are the only two that I have really seen. 703 is an amazing robot all around. They can pick up balls quick and efficiently. when on that ramp they are unstoppable. 365 loads by HP which gives them more points. When on that ramp they can score between 50-60 it seems like. Both are well built robots and if someone is blocking the ramp they shoot from the bottom of the ramp too.703 can also dump in the side goals.

My two favorites would have to be 222 and 365. MOE's shooting from the ramp can dominate; we found that out the hard way at Pittsburgh. And though we haven't played 222 yet, I saw them when I watched the VCU webcast. "Like shooting fish in a barrell" was definately right. I loved watching them, and I'm looking forward to seeing them in Curie in a week.
the one robot that did this that i have actually seen is 229. they did a magnificent job parking on the ramp and getting rid of all of their balls in a couple seconds.
another robot that i like that i have seen on webcast is 222. they are this little orange robot that sneaks onto the ramp and shoots vertically into the goal. they also seemed even when getting pushed, to get off the ramp before time ran out.

Well, I have only seen two, but I will post them anyways. 1276, BAE regional champion, is excellent at this. The only way to stop them from doing well was to stop them from getting up in auton. At BAE we played with them once and against them once. When we played against them, we managed to keep them from getting up on the ramp (we still lost) when we were with them we tried to keep everyone else from stopping them (and we won).
339 at Chesapeake did very well. We went with the strategy of keeping them from getting on the ramp, and it worked the first time but 1184 did spend the entire match keeping them off. The second match they got on the ramp in auto mode and 1184 spent the rest of the match trying to get them down. Conveniently, this left 1184 on our ramp at the end of the match. :)

The only way to stop 703 was to keep them off the ramp, they were awesome. I am shocked not to see them on the Atlanta list!
254. They get it done. Nuff said. Good luck stopping that robot because you'll need it...

177 prefers the term "bridge apparatus," but the best bridge apparatus we saw in our season would definitely have to be team 365, MOE's. They were only kept off the ramp once during qualifiers, and our alliance had to push them off the ramp during eliminations, and they still managed to shoot a couple in.

The Cheesy Poofs (team 254) take my vote!
real life...at BAE 1276, Kaizen Blitz was a very good 'ramp camper' once they get up there, its like watching the top shooters, and there is not much you can do, since they can unload their hopper pretty quickly...one flaw, if the ramp is blocked, they can't shoot...
Gotta go with the Wo-Bots here - they were one of the few robots I saw who could proficiently shoot and dump.

254 hands down. Not to mention that if they can't get on the ramp, they're happy to shoot from below.

... and their twin, 968. Plus, if the ramp is blocked, and the floor in front of the goal is blocked, they can dump, too.

So i have to chip my 2 cents in here.
25 - they dominate on top of the ramp. If they are let up thier your done, it doesn't matter what you try to do, before you can react the match is over. And if you do manage to keep them off the ramp they can still beat you. 25's drive team is very effecient and work exteremly well together.
254 - This team can take the match at any time if they are let free for just a split second. You saw what they could do at the pacific northwest regional when they were on the ramp, and they can shoot almost as good off the ramp. Once again a great drive team that are amazing and work well together.
The only one I have seen to do this is 365. A friend was scouting them, and we counted out loud how many went in. MOE had an insane 20 + count each time. It was also very efficient, and very different from the rest.
703 is the strongest ramp scorer that I saw. They use autonomous to get up there and score a lot while up there. 141, 107, 451 are all pretty good on the ramp. There was one team that went on the ramp to score twice at Milwaukee, once in practice and once in QF matches. They did it better than anyone i saw. They shall remain nameless however because I'm sure this team will unleash it sometime at Atlanta to win a match.

222. 222 was feared by the volunteers scoring. I recall multiple people counting whenever they were up.
I'm not sure since 435 was not full on the ramp but they were ramp dependent to shoot. If not them, then 365 based on video.

i would have to say from the two regionals i attended MOE definetely takes the cake for the best ramp shooter. Even if they could not climb the ramp they were still able to accurately score on the center goal... and when they scored on the ramp, it became almost impossible for the opposing alliance to catch up

229 gets my vote. At GTR 229, 1006 and 1241 (us) were able to put up 135 points on the board, most of it coming from 229.

365, amazing robot. Basically can do anything.
488: YEAH!
222- this robot was great at VCU. Great shooter and has tiger drive
832-great at peachtree, they could do it all. Had a lot of problems but overcame tehm all.

1276.
I don't think any team could successfully defend them from scoring any balls. Once you'd get on the ramp and turn and ram them, all their balls would be in the goal.
They get on the ramp, and you're toast. They could also score from the floor if they really needed to. They loaded from the floor and human player.
And they had an awesome diamond plate roller.

I have to say that i think 254-968 would probably be the best. Other teams that are amazing were 599 and 703 from what I have seen.

I remember 701 at Davis specifically for how they would fly off of the ramp after scoring all of their balls and hit the ground with a loud bang that could be heard in the entire stadium. I think after they broke several of their omniwheels, they decided to take it down a notch.
They wore a fantastic robot and made it into the finals, but unfortunately they had a failure during one of their matches that eliminated their ability to shoot from in front of the ramp if it was occupied.
They were awesome to play with and against and I hope to see them again next year!

I would like to also point out teams that CAN also shoot on the ramp aside from the floor such as; 234 1114 1503 1680
did 1680 add the ramp shooting feature? I saw Simbotics and Spartonics use it at Waterloo, but i didn't think FESStronics did...

703.. wow! here is a video of them climbing the ramp and scoring 9/10 balls in auto. This video is of our the second match of our first round with them at GTR in the eliminations.

Don't you dare to forget 222 that is going to ATL. on the list. They are the only robot that stands out in my mind about it. They designed the robot in thee only way to score was take that ramp. it is pure genius!
The bot that really stands out and you don't want to let them get to the ramp at all, not even AUTO mode was 703! if they had more then 10 balls, it was time for your side to go score at least double the amount which was very hard. to bad they didn't make the list for champs, they would have been dangerous!
Alex you heart my feelings. You dont mention our own team 229. With a new and improved game there is no moving us and we can sure sinkem on the ramp.

I don't like to mention the team i am on for threads like this.
(dont forget about 229)
The POOFS were a deadly team on the ramp this year. great job guys.

25 - they dominate on top of the ramp.
25 didn't shoot from on top of the ramp once this year.

Thank you to everyone who mentioned our robot in this thread. This is exactly what we were going for coming out of our brainstorming session,
but
when I saw the 254/968 robots play my jaw hit the floor. They made the perfect ramp camper/mass scoring robot and they could hit from the field! Great job!

Teams 254 and 968's robot design was completely amazing from on top of the ramp, the combination of speed and torque to get up on to the ramp so fast and drop all their balls before anyone could even react was unbelievable.
Team 217 wasn't a ramp camper persey but I just wanted to give them credit because in the final match on Einstein team 25 put them on the ramp to keep them from scoring and they just positioned there turret enough to put at least 7 balls in which won them the match. I personally didn't think they were able to shoot on the ramp but they proved me wrong.

The ThunderChickens actually kept that ability a secret from us, too, until it happened. It was a pleasant surprise!

...or from half-court, or from the side, or from the stating box, or...
...Atlanta was just SOOO much fun!!!

ummm....my team mates are gonna kill meh for saying this but I would have to say MOE. I think they did spectacular and the fact that their bed could keep like 20 + balls meant that if they wern't touched or messed with they could atleast get bout 18 balls in :). That meant an easy 54 points (if my mental math is not wrong) and if they had some sort of sbar like 1625 did they would have been MOE sucessful! lol :)

After watching the competition in atlanta I must make a vote for the Ter-MOE-Nator. That was the best ramp shooter next to 703 I have ever seen. They were unbelivble when on the ramp. I also want to say that the 111 was excellent on the ramp. They were my secret team that I was talking about. Sorry Stang I just couldn't keep your secret hidden.

703 was my favorite. They were fast and swift. They did have some trouble with their auto-mode, but I was still impressed.

I did witness some robots that were able to shot from the ramp and from the ground too. It was a good strategy though, and helps a lot of teams get a lot of points without any difficulty.

I would say 968 they could get up on the ramp and shoot into the 3pt goal. And they also could shoot from the middle of the field and their accuracy was very good. Also 703 they could get up on and off the ramp with ease and score in the 3pt goal. Along with if they could not get up the ramp they still could unload their balls into the 1pt goals. Last I would have to say 1114 they mainly shoot off the ramp yet they could get on the ramp and score as well. (We saw this when we paired up with them in the curie division)
