Looks like a V8, i'd guess a big truck or possibly corvette?

Its is a V8...it is not a corvette engine since those are typically dressed up like this (http://carad.ebayimg.com/i17/03/a/06/d3/f3/e1_4.JPG), or this (http://carad.ebayimg.com/i6/01/a/05/65/e9/55_4.JPG) (not a vette engine) with custom valve covers and such. It looks like a short block possibly a SUV or Pickup truck, thats my guess

I'm going to guess that it is a Corvette (or GM) LS2 engine. In one of his earlier posts he explains how the division he works in does stuff w/ the Corvette engines.

Steve or Derek would be better suited to answer this question, but I'm pretty sure that's the 400 HP, 6.0L V8 engine for the 2006 Corvette, GTO and CTS-V.

Good catch didnt think of those. After looking at the CTS-V and the GTO im gonna say 85% sure CTS-V (somebody is gonna laugh in my face for this if im wrong) if you look at the maniflod on the GTO it is slightly different but still has that single throttle body. the CTS-V appears to be the same and from the pics i could get looks like it also has chrome valve covers

It looks a lot more like a 4.8 L Gen. III small block truck engine (Vortec 4800), or a 5.3 L (Vortec 5300). They're also St. Catharines products (so Steve would have ample opportunity to pose with one).

If you really want to be sure, take a look at the tall plastic intake manifold—that was always what stood out for me when I was at GM St. Catharines. Also note that the Corvette engines typically have the red-and-black covers, while the CTS-V has the silly-looking Cadillac engine cover. The truck engines are usually unadorned, like this one, though since it's missing its accessory drive (alternator, belts, etc.), I suppose that it could be waiting to be embellished further. (Though this looks suspiciously like the one sitting beside the line in the block assembly area, near the production/quality whiteboards.)

Check here (http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en/product_services/r_cars/index.html) for more information and pictures, if you want to prove me right or wrong.

Its a short block so i'm with the light duty truck/SUV crew on this one.

The SUV crew is right on this one (although you can’t use the engine covers as a guide – because engine plants don’t assemble the cosmetic beauty covers that adorn the engine).

This is a Vortec 5300 Engine that is a V8 upgrade for the Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Envoy Denali, Buick Ranier, Saab 9-7X, and the Isuzu Ascender. It packs a punch with 300 HP @ 5200 RPM, and 330 lb.-ft. Torque @ 4000 RPM. This display engine just happened to be parked outside my office area and in a convenient location for a photo. We make the 400 HP LS2 Engine for Corvette, CTS-V, and Trailblazer SS also.

Sweet, anyway you can slip that by customs? I will be willing to take my truck up there for yah. ;) ;)

The last engineering manager that tried to help a buddy with that is now flipping burgers at McDonalds. I'm on a low fat diet, so I'll pass.

And this is a fully functioning engine. It would probably cost us more to put together a special one without the inards than it would to just scoop one off the end of our production line.
