View Full Version : Balfour Rings offers FIRST Logo
I just got an email forwarded to me by 237's lead mentor. It said...
Hello,
My name is Bruce Rock, from Balfour Class Rings. On May 11 & 12, we will
be taking class rings orders at Watertown High School. I wanted to let
your team know, that for the first time ever, the "First Logo" will be
availble on the side of a class ring. I have attached a document to
show you what it looks like.
Good luck in Georgia!

Good news for 237 and any other school that uses Balfour. In the image they identified it as FIRST Lego League, but ehh its all the same logo.
And I do realize other threads have been posted talking about this, but this is specific to one vendor.

That's pretty sick. I'll be sure to get one next year.

Personally, I find class rings of that style to be obnoxiously large and clumsy to wear. Then again, I don't like bracelets or even watches either.

I have money, and I want a FIRST class ring.
Looks like it is a working scheme anyways!

i took a look online and it isnt there, is it only available to certain schools?

It's a symbol of your high school years. They aren't mandatory to buy, so if you don't want one you don't need to get one. You could also say jewelry in general is a money making scheme. After all, it's just metals. However in that metal something is represented, making it worth money to people.

I'm inclined to agree with Greg Marra and sanddrag, I really don't desire to spend money on some clunky piece of jewelry that represents my high school years. So far in two years, I've been at two different schools, and next year I'm changing again, so it seems that a class ring is sort of... I don't no, meaningless? It I got one and this was an option, I would, but I don't think I will, so for me, it is a moot point. I'd be more tempted to make a lighter and cheaper FIRST logo ring out of paperclips and solder.

If there was any time that Dave should say "Thats Pimp", now is the time.
Thats pretty cool, it'd make me reconsider my choice in not getting a ring, but I'm with everyone else, they are pretty overpriced and not my cup of tea (or brass).

I don't want a class ring (doesn't make sense...graduating this year...also too much $$ for my taste) BUT i have to say that that's pretty awesome. If anything were to actually convince me to get one, that logo has got to be it. I think it's nice that they drew up a logo for FIRST (even if it was for their personal benefit, i still think it rocks).

You are one of the few Delphiites I've met in person. I love you like a brother, but I know you can make a better argument than that.
I'm drinking a Diet Coke right now -- simply a money making scheme. I just bought two new pairs of pants and a jacket from Men's Wearhouse -- simply a money making scheme. I labor eight to twelve (a lot more like eight, usually) hours a day for LexisNexis -- simply a money making scheme. I pay for cellular phone service -- simply a money making scheme. I buy groceries at Albertson's -- simply a money making scheme. I pay a mortgage payment to a bank for my house every month -- simply a money making scheme.
If it wasn't for simple money making schemes we would all be 11th-century French peasants.

I wish I could get that. I have a Jostens ring... they don't offer that... but maybe I'll submit the picture to them and they'll make it. (( My mom loves class rings and saw this before me... but she agreed to let me get mine changed should Jostens get a design like this ))

I love FIRST, but I don't want to pay anything more this year.

Ditto, well I haven't graduated but we get our class rings Sophomore year and I am now a senior. I wear mine all the time, so I guess it just depends on whether or not having a class ring matters to you.

Hi everyone,
The Zolnier class ring has been offering the FIRST logo for several years--and at a lower cost that the other big ring companies---look back at the archived posts about it. I got the owner John Zolnier to make a mold for my students. We handed out brochures and everything at competitions, and they even had the link to FIRST on their website zolnierclassrings
just wanted to let everyone know--it might save you some money
