When your job isn't to make sure people are wearing safety glasses, it's to make sure they take them off when they leave.
LOL I don't even remember how many times I have left the Robotics room while wearing safety glasses:rolleyes:

...When you think of Team 118 EVERY time you hear the song Can't Hold Us (feat. Ray Dalton)
...When you feel absolutely sure there is something in top of your head(safety glasses) even though you are outside of the robotics room
...When you sing the spirit chants of other teams in school
...When you go to CD before checking your school grades
...When you subscribe to this thread to see any more replies;)
(For the FTC teams) When your fellow coach (and wife) asks "Did you pick up munchkins or rings at Dunkin Donuts?"
When you're in public and you see someone wearing a shirt that's somewhat the color of a team's shirt and you think "HEY! I wonder if they're from team XXXX?"
When you go to a MakerSpace and bust out the side shields like it's nothing at all (which it is to you) to the confusion of everyone else.
You see the Hunger Games, and when you hear "The Game Design Committee", you think of FIRST.
FIRST is our Hunger Games. May the odds be ever in your favor.

- When you think of the people on your team as your second family.
- When you spend more time at school than at home.
- Your on CD during the middle of Graphic Design while trying to do a comic strip.
- When said comic strip involves robots.
- When your favorite and/or most dreaded time of the year is kick-off.
- When "Call Me Maybe" comes on and you sing "Pick Me Maybe" instead.

...when you're up until 2 in morning the day before your regional finishing the CAD work and BOM for your robot. and you have to leave at 4 for said regional.
and for me personally:
You know you've overdosed on CAD when: you single-handedly did all the CAD/BOM work for your robot (no regrets about that, but it took forever) and you still want to make a motion study video of your robot assembling itself.

You come home during build season at 10pm to study for an exam the next day and your parents say "you're home early". Or you come home one day during build season and your parents say "oh your home"

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
your college graduation gift is a trip to nationals (I may miss my graduation ceremony, not that I'll be too torn up over that)
You have FIRST Sims.

You start thinking about getting your dog a FIRST bandanna to wear and wondering how you could get them involved. Then start thinking about the possibility of bringing her to World. When you're already excited for the next season!
When at your first regional you lose your voice after every one of your matches, only to slowly regain it in time for the next one.
When you are waiting patiently for that driving ban due to a blizzard to be lifted so you can get to robotics.
When you have to go into school so that you can take a bus to a competition, and you arrive significantly earlier than anybody else. Including the mentor. Twice.
When your mother thinks your crazy because you just finished an intense build season, the next day you are almost completely incapacitated from exhaustion and a desperate need to relax, and your still staying up late because you volunteered to write an essay for the Woodie Flowers Award.
When you believe that said Woodie Flowers Award essay is the best thing that you have ever written.

....during your computer apps class you have 10 windows up, 3 involving CD, 4 involving CAD, 1 involving youtube videos of BattleCry, and the last 2 involving team scouting....
....the fact that my teachers allow me to sleep in class during build season, ask to be excused to go share a design with my teachers that are also mentors, and to use the SmartBoard during class to draw up a quick CAD design to email to everyone on the team before that days meeting....

When the coaches tell you to back off the build and let the students do the work. It's at that moment you realize you are now an FRC Alumnus :o
NOTE: I say this because this is how a Team 178 season operates. Yes adults do still have input and are available in a pinch, but it's our students that put forth the effort for everything. A reason I keep coming back is to see what they do next.

When you came in to the season not knowing what an Allen key was…
… And now you don’t know how you couldn't have known that
When as soon as you see Frozen you start parodying Do You Want to Build a Robot immediately
When your team goes to Championships, but you stay home… and you’re on Spyder all day in school
When your friends know about as much as you about FIRST, mostly because you can’t shut up about it
When you see team numbers everywhere
When this is your FIRST year, and all the posts in the thread pretty much apply to you…
…And you can’t wait for next build season

Let me tell you about the dream I had two days before Battle of Baltimore.
I had a dream that our team was out on the field about to shoot when a robot that had a razor sharp piece of metal built onto its chassis ran into us and cut the surgical tubing we use to steady the ball once it's been picked up. Later our team found out the the robot had been built specifically to cut that length of tubing on our bot and only our bot. The team was disqualified, but we couldn't shoot for the rest of the competition. I then woke up at around 2 am, muttered some gibberish about needing to pack extra surgical tubing and then fell back to sleep.
Conclusion: I might need to take a few days off. :D

You know you've overdosed on FIRST when you still are designing robots for FRC when you are in college.
Also, I had a Lego Mindstormers project in my engineering class and it had to follow a line. So I put a PID loop and threw away the regular example code. Only FIRST people got what I did, I just confused everyone else, even the TAs

The REST of your tabs tell the REAL story of overdose! 2 team references (one TBA, and your own team site), 2 programming language references, CD (open to this thread), and 3 Wikipedia pages relating to robotics, specifically motion (and judging by what they are, you've been reading some of Ether's posts lately, and are doing further research). Do I detect some mecanum programming going on?
(And I think I've OD'd too--being able to tell all that from just the tab titles)
(un)Fortunately I'm not working on mecanum code, depends on your point of view. Right now I'm actually looking into inverse kinematics for an arm with N joints and movement constraints. (It's not technically FRC specific, but could be adapted) I haven't really gotten that far yet, but it's still interesting to read the papers that have been written on it.
