According to the 2006 Manual it seems that Dewalt motors should be illegal, as per <R43> and <R44> which state that the only motors you can use in addition to those in the kit parts are two small CIMs. It seems impossible that one could have DeWalts on a robot, but a number of teams at the championship were using them. I re-checked the manual and the flowchart but I do not understand how teams can use these.
They were CIM motors using the Dewalt Transmissions, not the actual Dewalt motors.

These are DeWalt drill transmissions mated to legal motors (e.g. small CIM, Johnson Fisher-Price, etc.). Note that especially with the F-P motor, it may appear (at first glance) as if it is an unmodified DeWalt drill. See here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/search/results/12266).
