Please play "Flight of the Valkyries" while reading this post:

Attention citizens of the Midwest! The NERDS will be invading your part of the country in July to attend IRI. We'll be swooping in from all parts of New England to attend one of the best summer competitions that there is. My message is this:

People of the Midwest: lock your doors, hide your poof balls, and cook plenty of food (we'll be hungry)
People of New England: gather your teams, register for the competion, and jump in the caravan headed to Indiana.

If you want to jump in on the caravan with us and make this a road trip to remember, then here's the details:
Wednesday (7/19) - drive all day to Sandusky, OH
Thursday (7/20) - Go to Cedar Point and ride roller coasters all day. Drive to IN that night.
Friday/Saturday (7/21-7/22) - ROBOTS
Sunday (7/23) - Drive to Cleveland, OH and go to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame
Monday (7/24) - Drive back to NE.

If you want further details involving times, meeting places, planned routes taken and the various motels we'll be staying at, PM me and we'll discuss.

I am proud to say that I will be part of the New England Caravan. We have done our fair share of talking, we have poked fun, and we have itched the heels of the Midwest long enough. Now, New England puts its money where my overly flapping mouth is.

Thats right folks...the NERDS are invading! And we declare WAR!

IRI...are you ready for some defense?

While I won't be caravaning with the other NERDs, I am going to be hitting up IRI. My parents are getting me a plane ticket as a graduation gift :D .

Watch your backs, Indiana!

Andy,

Care to let us know which Northeast powerhouse teams we can be expecting at IRI? I'm definitely intrigued.

I can tell you that atleast in Nerd-One (the flagship of the caravan), there will be several of Gael Force's black ops as well as a temporarily converted Gael Hawks member.

Apparently, we have a Gael theme going on.

I'll be there, so thats one more NERD to add to the list. :)

I am hoping that I will be able to travel out there with two other alums from the Who'sCTEKS (716), but it is very unlikely that 716 will be able to officially attend. Money, time, people, etc. are all reasons for this. So unfortunately, we won't have the opportunity to showcase our classic New England defense. :(

Even though I am a soon-to-be Connecticut-Florida transplant, that defensive blood will always be running through my veins. :) One never forgets their upbringing, although I am looking forward to learning more about playing offense (Florida has a lot of offensive teams as does the Midwest).

Honestly...we are working on teams to get into the caravan with us. As it stands right now, there is one big black, green, and gold robot with some very "Gaelic" members of the army. We are hoping that a few teams will jump on the bandwagon with us and make the invasion more than a one team charge. Thus why Timmy made his post...

New England...this is a challenge to you! Pack up your robot, and join us in our parade out to the midwest! Act quickly though...spots for IRI fill up very fast from what I have heard.

If any teams are interested in joining us, feel free to e-mail or PM me or Mr Baird. My e-mail is skrach42@aol.com.

Its on folks...the invasion begins!

Jeeze... where the heck do all of you (who do work) get all this vacation time from???

I get like.. 2 weeks, and that's enough for a regional (3 days), the nats (4 days this year), and maybe some days here and there..

No week long treks across the country enters into that schedule anywhere.

Aye..

I'll still try to make it to IRI this year, but even if I do, it'll be sometime Friday night or Saturday morning..

IRI or Bust!

Yeah, all I do with my vacation days is FIRST. Plus, Nypro is often generous in looking the other way when it comes to the occasional missed day or two for a FIRST related activity...

Tell your friends!

Just tell them quickly... IRI registration is at or above the level it was last year, as over 60 teams have already signed up. This team list will be published Monday (5/15).

So that's what all that extra space in the auxiliary gym is going to be used for - to create pit space for the first 100-team offseason event! Right Andy and Chris? You're holdin' back spots on us, ready to unleash them at the last minute. Huh? Huh? Am I right? :D

Jeeze... where the heck do all of you (who do work) get all this vacation time from???Most of my vacation time for the last 5 years has been spent on FIRST. But as a result I've been able to see Houston, Atlanta, Worcester, Trenton, Annapolis, the Detroit airport, the Chicago airport etc.
