So at my school, our teachers lets us letter in First for those who actually worked on the robot and did their part for the team during the season. We were wondering if somewhere in the world there exists "FIRST" pins so we can add them to our letters. Also, we were wondering if other teams letter in FIRST and we're also wondering, how do they show they lettered?

There are a few other threads about varsity letters (I am too tired to search for them right now), but I have never heard of the pin. Make sure it fits all of the legal stuff from FIRST! Sounds nice though

My team is able to letter for the team after putting in two years of noticeable work, effort and spirit. We have a team pin, but no FIRST pins. Pins, however, don't work well on letter jackets, and there are no patches for Robotics, so I have my four bars for being on the team four years, my CAPT patch for being a captain, and nothing else for the team. The patch in the middle of my letter is the winged foot for managing track. :( I definitely wish there were a FIRST pin or patch as well!
i don't think anyone on our team has lettered in FIRST but our team does have patches for letter jackets

The HOT team members get a varsity letter after their first year and then a pin with our team logo on it every year after.

Here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/21626) is a post I put up last year. We will need pins or patches this year as well. This is the second year that we will be awarding letters, so we will have students receiving their second "letter". The way our district awards letters, either Athletic or Academic, is that you can receive only one of each. After that, you receive a patch to be added to the letter it's self for any additional awards.

Team 1002 awarded varsity letters for robotics for the first time ever on May 12. Team members had to meet a preset criteria of hours and other requirements to earn one. Our First regional Chairman's award pin that we were fortunate to win will look good on the letter.

There are pins available. I'm not sure if you mean a specific type of pin meant for a Lettered Jacket though??
Anyways, I know they sell pins with the FIRST logo in NJ at the Regional, and at BE I think.
I'll try and find out where they get theirs from, and post a pic of them when I get home tonight as well to see if that's what you had in mind.
As for a patch; Logoloc still has the old logo available in a path format for 3 bucks each here:

I'm waiting for the new logo to become available and I will probably order some more. (I already have a few old logo patches as shown above.)

i have no idea about the pins, but at our school, if you are on the team for 2 whole years, then you may purchase a leather jacket like the varsity ones we have but different colors.

Sherrard students on 648 have their own patches... but no pins. They are our "logo" kinda looks like it, but cant do a real rendition of it in Cad. It says Sherrard Robotics or something like that.

My school does not have letters for robotics, but the captains got leadership letters.
I got a letter this year from 1002 but Jeremy Roberts' (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/member.php?u=706) back seat stole it.
I think we are just putting bars in the place of pins. I know that kids on the Forsyth Alliance (team 1746) are getting Chevrons to add every year. I have heard of teams having gears that they put on the letter.
As mentioned we did issue letters and the current thought is to use the standard chevron for additional years. However, I did speak with the letter manufacturer's rep about creating a gear pin that could be used and they were wondering if the demand would warrant the production. If the depand is large enough the cost will be reasonable. Right now for just our team it is not cost efficient to produce the die and the pin would cost more than the letter itself.
I would like to see if others are interested in the gear pin so then we can pursue the creation of the pin.

I am raising my hand quite immensely. :) Because I was thinking of trying to find a gear pin for everyone if a FIRST pin can't be achieved before the end of the school year.

we have "FIRST" pins for letterman's jackets that show off the F.I.R.S.T. symbol. i don't know where we got them. but i'll try to find out as soon as possible.
Team 811 has given varsity letters for many years; the standard that we follow involves a student who has been on the team for at least two years, is a junior or senior in school, made significant contributions to the team and/or robot, regularly shows leadership in the team, and has the endorsement of the mentors on the team.
A number of years ago we had pins made for us by the Aaron Label Pin and Button (http://www.lapelpinandbutton.com)company. Their 1" square cloisonne pints cost us about $2.75 apiece (for 100), and they're gorgeous! Here's a slightly oversized image of what they look like:

If anyone's interested I can help you do your own.
Logoloc (the company that has the wonderful FIRST stand in Atlanta) sells FIRST pins here (http://logoloc.com/first/Product/Accessories/38121-First-Pin.html) for $3.00 each. The pin is .5" wide and matches the size of other generic letterman pins (it is the same size as my cheer megaphone and debate gavel)
