Lets make a support group for people so addicted to robotics that as soon as first is over they start planning for OCCRA

Yay Occra 06..... Goodbye Placebo bot..... HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO to the 2006 Hammerheads occra bot. We took a year off being placebo bot last year, and now we are more eager then ever to fully compete in this year in occra, I know I can't wait. Though it shall be interesting to see what facility we end up building in.... rather... who’s garage we will be building in, hehe... Guess I better start cleaning.

See you all out there!

I'm really gonna miss competing in this competition. I will definitely go and volunteer for a few competitions, and cheer for my old team. I can't wait to see what this year's game is. :)

Sure you can. I mean, look at me, I'm a sophomore in college and I'm still around... Lol. We're usually in need of people to help out with the events, so don't let graduating from high school stop you :)

Anna-Marie,

We pretty much always need help with set-up and take-down of the event. The teams step in and do this, so it's fairlyeasy to join in once the trailer of field elements arrives at the venue. Also, usually representatives from the competing teams do field reset, but I'm sure that if we're short of people or someone wants to take a break that we could use a helping hand.

Can someone post info on what OCCRA is for people who don't know what it is?

OCCRA is an offseason series of competitions (3 or 4 regionals, 1 championship) in Oakland County, Michigan, in which roughly thirty teams participate. It is similar to the FIRST structure, in that we have a kickoff event where the game is revealed. The students are given about a month to build with knowledge of the part, size, and tool restrictions.

The main difference between FIRST and OCCRA is that OCCRA requires that the robots are completely student-designed and -built. OCCRA does offer workshops hosted by mentors at the beginning of the season, but from there, the students are responsible for how everything runs.
