Any person in picture yelling to Arefin somewhere of shot: Arefin!! You think you would of learned from last year! Don't plan off seasons in Hurricane Season!!

Arefin yelling back: BUT THIS ISN'T A HURRICANE

::smacking noise::

Barry (somewhere off shot): Ouch! STUPID LEXAN! I can't belive this happend two years in a row!

(Personal note on this caption contest entry for non-Mission Mayhem attendees... there are wayyyy too many inside jokes in the following entry to probably get)

Billfred earlier in the day: "Mike's having trouble getting the field to run right, the software has gone down the Hatch."
Billfred at the time of the picture: "When I said the software was going down the Hatch... I meant it as a pun, I didn't mean he should flood the field so we had to hide the cabinets in a Yellow Submarine. Where are my penalty flags again?"

Freddy Schurr

Billfred wanted everyone to know why there was water on this off-season event's field, so he posted this in the caption contest to get everyone take on this marvelous occurrence.

Water water everywhere and not a light will blink,
Billfred got the field all wet and really caused a stink.
It called for rain this glorious day,
And now the field looks like the bay.

The GDC had a real good look,
And now a water game is in the book.
The work it caused did not bring down them,
They brought together another successful Mission Mayhem.

Now why do you suppose KathieK called and said to find NEMO to help with all this mayhem?

Looking down in the drainhole, 'oh yoohooo NEMO, are you down there? Come out come out where ever you are...we've got pink pigs and martians here and we need you, too, little fella.'

REF: Stop pointing at the wet carpet and clean this up, even if the cursed drain is under that spot!

Guy in back with white T-shirt: Yay, a wading pool!

REF: Shaddup and help, my feet are getting wet! And these Nike's are brand new too!

Side Note: My grandfather told me this. In Vietnamese (I think), Nike means "do it", or to do. My grandfather had a Vietnamese boss, and so when he was fed up with the workers for whining about something, he would just yell "NIKE!" End side note.

As clean-up from this terrible disaster continues, officials are left trying to figure out exactly what went wrong. A distraught and sobbing witness to this horrible calamity, who wished to remain anonymous, had the following to say:

"We kept warning him not to do it, but he wouldn't listen... he just wouldn't listen... we begged him, we said, 'Please don't do it, Big Mike, don't do it! One more bear hug, and Copioli could pop.' But he didn't listen, and he grabbed Paul up and as he lifted him in the air, tightening his mighty arms, there was this loud noise, kind of like a pop, yeah, a pop, and then... then... this! Why??? Why Paul?!! This kind of senseless violence must be stopped!"

Game announcer at the 2007 Florida Regional Competition “SEA NO LIMITS” (the first FRC game with a water field):

“Attention please, attention please....

In the last match the head referee has DQ the Blue Alliance for severely damaging the field and causing the massive leak with their torpedoes.

There will be a 60 minute delay in competition while the field crew extract the PINK SQUID robot from underneath the rubber membrane when it was caught in the suction of the whirlpool.

As soon as the field is repaired and refilled, the matches will continue.
Thank you. ”

Qu'on voit danser le long des golfes clairs
A des reflets d'argent
La mer
Des reflets changeants
Sous la pluie
La mer
Au ciel d'été confond
Ses blancs moutons
Avec les anges si purs
La mer bergere d'azur
Infinie
Voyez
Près des etangs
Ces grands roseaux mouilles
Voyez
Ces oiseaux blancs
Et ces maisons rouilles
La mer
Les a berce
Le long des golfes clairs
Et d'une chanson d'amour
La mer
A berce mon coeur pour la vie

Just run it through Google, period. The translation for the song "La Mer" (lamer? :) ), from Wikipedia:

The sea
which we see dancing along the clear gulfs
has silver sparkles.
The sea
has changing sparkles
Under the rain.
The sea
To the summer sky's confuses her white sheep
With angels so pure.
The sea,
Shepherdess of infinite sky.
See
Next to the ponds
Those tall wet reeds.
See
Those white birds
And those rusty houses.
The sea
Has rocked them like a baby
Along the clear gulfs
And with a love song The sea
Has rocked my heart for life.

[not an entry] You can hear a clip from the English version "Beyond the Sea" at this Amazon link (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000634HG/sr=8-1/qid=1150412640/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-1378784-8503806?%5Fencoding=UTF8). The English lyrics are not identical to the French, which fit the picture better, I think. [/not an entry]

Wow...just wow. I never thought this one would be so hard to judge. I mean, usually one kinda sticks out...I guess there's only one solution for all of this:

At least one off-season event each season must have its field flooded, with multiple pictures posted to ChiefDelphi during or following the event.*
*I'm kidding, seriously--that flooded field was one of the weirdest experiences of my life, and it's only because Mission Mayhem was two days and that there are some of the most awesome people in FIRST, particularly in Florida, that the event was as successful as it was. Trust me, you don't want to flood your field. I doubt that FIRST wants you to, either.

First place goes to:

For those of you who wondered why the GDC was so adamant about using TWO Pool Noodles for making bumpers, now you know, flotation. It would appear that Dave Lavery can see into the future in addition to his many other talents.

Second place goes to:

"Hmm... I wonder if FIRST is covered against an act of cod..."

5) miketwalker

12) Koko Ed
13) Conor Ryan
14) Jay H 237
15) RoboMom

17) Matt Krass (who should know about wet runs in FIRST)

And the burn award...

Water water everywhere and not a light will blink,
Billfred got the field all wet and really caused a stink.
It called for rain this glorious day,
And now the field looks like the bay.

The GDC had a real good look,
And now a water game is in the book.
