Hey CD,
The date is being talked about, but it is happening. RoboDox team 599 are hosting Fall Classic. I know its early, but getting the word out, and starting a thread before its too late. The RoboDox are hosting Fall Classic at Granada or CSUN, there is a little dispute, but in either case, its a block apart. So, since Battle at the Boarder is postponed, CA teams and other teams have something else to look forward too, FALL CLASSIC!!!!!!
There may be more news and suprises to come.
Ill keep the thread updated when more news comes. Let the hype start. :)

Ok, more info, but will get the final info that will be on NEMO and here in about a week or so. What is new:
Will happen at Granada's gym.
Granada Hills Charter Highs School
10353 Zelzah Ave.
Granada Hills CA, 91344
Also, will be on October 8th. So mark your calanders. I will have a price and more specifications. Also, SCRRF is supposedly getting us a FIRST field to use, so it will be a great layout, not like wooden team made field.
So, who is excited?

A few questions.................
How many teams to you have room for?
What will the registration fee be?
Will the game be altered in any way?
Thanks.

I can answer one of those right now. Game wont be altered, but we may have mini games. We are coming up with the fee as well as team space. I will try to get some more answers this week, but august seems about the time when i get the rest of the info because its summer.

32 team capacity. Side games will be a little different.
Rules for Side Games:
-Side game events will be at the competition if a team bring a mock set and is willing to be in charge of the event.
-Side games shall only be played on teather, as its a one day event and we will be tight on time to get people to play Aim High
-If you are hosting a side game, please bring teather cables to be considerate to other teams that may be lacking
Also, all teams are welcome, SCRRF or not. First pay first come basis. We are also looking for volunteers. We have only a few more things like costs to finalize, and then this thing is open for sign ups.
Whos planning on going?
I'll most likely be there, helping out as per usual.

Team 294 is interested.
Team 498 is interested.
For side games: can we have any Vex or non-robot games in addition to tethered robot ones?

I like the idea of a vex comp, my team is interested in using vex to train new students, a mini comp at the fall classic would be a great outlet and motivator for that.
What do you think 599?
EricRobodox

sounds good to me, just i cant have any promises. I know Chaminad has an official field. I can talk with some people about seeing if we want to put in a Vex side competition. No promises. 599 doesnt have an official field, so if a team has one, and is willing to bring it, i see no problem. but, still have to talk it over, because thats a competition in itself.
P.S. Talks if this goes well this year, next year will be a two day event. Which makes it better as time will be less of a concern for matches.
Actually I was thinking of having some low budget Vex game unique to Fall Classic. I don't think there's really enough time to run a full Vex tournament.
We've talked about using Vex for teaching, but due to budget will probably only get like 1 kit or use mine and do something else for teaching.
EricRobodox
27-07-2006, 00:38
HAHAHAHAHA. We can do that easily. We do Vex/EDU games at least twice a year for teaching. But the thing is, if its not HalfPipe hustle, it will be hard because teams will have to build. but not a bad idea. ill bring it up when i talk to the team in august.
I would like a dodgeball fight, but i dont think it will happen. Although at the Scrimmage at Birmingham me and a few other friends had a mini dodgeball fight at the end of the tournement, just not on the field.

A small vex event wouldn't be hard as long as it used easy materials and a flat field.

Can we get a mentors round please (for the fulsize FRC). This is something the Fall Classic has seriously needed and always lacked. Who's with me?

A mentor's round is already in the plan. It will probably be the last round.

Vex/EDU robot competition on the side is plausible, i just have to come up with the game and make sure its easy to set up. I have some designs in mind. School starts next week and i can get the final question of how much the cost will be hopefully soon after.

Both of those sound like good news to me.
Some of our mentors have been grumbling for years about never being able to drive.
We won't be coming. Our teachers (as well as a few students) already have travel plans that weekend, and I just learned that is the weekend of Homecoming at our high school.
Hopefully we can see everyone at other competitions!

1000 views!!!11 woot. lol. information will be coming soon. Chaminad, 1138, will be taking care of registration, i know that.
Do you guys have any room for volunteers? Like, I wouldn't mind coming by and helping field reset or something. I live near there, so if you guys need any last minute help, let me know
EricRobodox
21-08-2006, 20:20
Yeah, we will need help, but we got to get regisitration rolling, if im not mistaken, maybe Chris will back me up, but SCRRF is almost done coming up with a payment amount and details of late entry. After that, we should be good. I got an email today from Terry and Xerox, and they will be setting up and testing the field scoring system. Im so excited. lol. Im gradually getting more info, but once registration starts rolling, ill be able to map out Granada for everything, including a mini-Vex/EDU game hopefully.

Since the vex game is announced sep 13th, the mini vex game should probably be this new one... ?

22-08-2006, 22:42
HAHAHAHAHA, my team doesnt have the money to buy a field, and I dont think SCRRF will get one to set up. It would be a competition in itself. I doubt that will happen. the game i had in mind delt with anntena balls and the buckets FIRST gives us each year. great idea, just not the resources, unless another team would like to run it.

599 will not be able to make the mini-Vex/EDU game, but can still be done if another team willing to take it on. this will involve bringing the field, providing the rules and operating the game. also side games are the same way for the FRC robots. Please contact me if your team is willing to do this. I can get one or two people to help if operating or setting up is an issue.

If your team is interested in hosting a Vex game at the Fall Classic, but does not have a Vex field, please let us (me or EricRobodox) know. I am sure that we can arrainge for one. You would have to supply other stuff, but we can get the field walls. I believe we have a full set of crystals too.

hey people, i know a lot of teams have not registered yet because school starts monday, but dont forget, you can register for Fall Classic right now, as well as sign up for volunteering. Team registration goes to Nancy who is at Chaminade, which was mentioned earlier and can be found in the white page. If you want to volunteer or volunteer your team, contact me or chris. So, this next week when you get back with your team when school starts, dont forget to bring up Fall Classic.

Walkthrough was a great success, it wasnt announced or anything, it was just for planning between Chris and 599 at Granada. We are coming along and should be a great event. Dont forget to sign up. We got a lot of things planned out and it should be a good atmosphere along with a great competition. Currently, you are a team that wants to help out, please send me some contact information for your team or a way to contact your team so that i can help you be a part of the Fall Classic, besides just participating. Remeber, this isnt 599's event, its SCRRF's, so its all of ours.

one mini game already suggested: Robot soccer with a big ball from the 04 game. the ramp will be the goal. 3 vs. 3. 1138 will be heading it, but more info to come as we try to squeeze and finalize it in Fall Classic.

that would be awesome. Would it be with the 06 robots? would it count as a qualifying match?

It would actually be with any FRC robot. If you do not wish to compete with your 06 robots, that is fine since this minigame will take place before the eliminations. It will probably be around lunch time. If it'll count as a qualifying match, we're not sure yet, but all the teams that compete will receive something. If any of you were wondering, yes it was inspired from that episode of top gear.:D lol
The rules have been uploaded as a White Paper. (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/1866)

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Stonefan5271138 again.
you freaken rule jeff.
The name of the game has been changed to Robo Cup Soccer for some reasons, and the rules have been finalized. One important thing to note too:
If a team is bringing their 2004 robot in hope that they can just pick up the ball and place it on the ramp to score, that team is exempt from the unnecessary roughness rule*, just to keep it fairer.
*Though if a team is being highly Ungracious and/or Unprofessional, they will be penalized.
The newer version of it is the second white paper on the Robo Cup Soccer Rules.
EricRobodox

just keep it to 06' robots, otherwise pits may get a lot fuller.
Due to space, teams that bring their older robots to compete in the Mini-game must have a space outside to keep the robots or some sort of space in a vehicle to keep that robot until the match starts, and a place for it out of the pit area for it afterwards.
The Classic is ON!
Teams still interested in attending who have not registered yet can register by sending email to RoboDox@ghchs.com and/or robodox@csun.edu.
