As I've never been one to shy away from asking, I figure I'll put this out there in hopes that it may work.

This year our team had a bit of an issue. Our teacher left us mid-build season, very suddenly and without explination. He had been our team's shipping contact and thus had all of our teams "stuff" from FIRST. When he left, a number of things that our team had became lost, at least to those of us still here. This included our animation software. That was fine for this past year, however, this coming year our team would like to take a try at it. We have a mentor who would like to learn the software this summer so that we can give the students a chance to do an animation this spring, however we cannot track down our software.

Is there any team, maybe one that doesn't participate in animation, that might be willing to send us the software? Even if it's old, he could at least get the basics of the program. Thanks so much!

Our team doesn't have any more copies, but you can always get the 30 day free trial from autodesk.com...that way you can still begin to learn the software before you get copies next season, or before you get copies from another team.

Click on the free trial link on the right side (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=5659302&siteID=123112)

Hello,
How old is the mentor. If he/she is a college student, I know someone posted this link earlier http://students3.autodesk.com/ . They can download a free students edition. Have fun!

If your team would like to take a stab at it dont wait until the build season to start learning it. Start learning it now and then when the build season rolls around you'll have an idea of what you are doing.

My Team has extra licenses, but i do not have authority to send them to you. I have notified those who do, and i hope we can help you. In the meantime, autodesk offers gmax, which is a free dumbed-down version of max, that you can train on till you get software.

I will also be more than happy to help you all train and tutor/advise you personally. I will be going to UVA naxt year, so i can't travel to you, unless you are in Charlottesville. Pm me for my email and IM, and i can help you out.
