I know many teams are beginning to decide on where they might go for competitions next year. A lot of teams are planning their events in order to figure out budgets and I was just wondering if teams have any idea where they might be going? It might be a little early for this thread, but hey we could all use something to druel over before the next off-season event. :)
Team 1403 is going to the NJ Regional and the Championship event. We are deciding where to go for our 2nd regional. Some possibilities for our 2nd regional are Detroit, Boston, Florida or Virginia.

Its hard to pick just yet as the dates haven't been announced.
Exploding Bacon will be at the Florida Regional ( its in our hometown) and we are thinking of either Palmetto, Drexal, Boston, or New Orleans as our 2nd regional. Or we may go back to Lone Star....we had a really good time there.
We will go to the championships if we qualify, and have the money.
Kansas City!!! Finally something close to home.
West Michigan is always a Martian Staple. We are aiming for a 2-4-WMR-Championship competition schedule like we have done for the past few years.

Team 25 will definitely be at the NJ Regional, since it's our home regional.
We're most likely going to a week 3 regional, assuming that NJ is a week 1 again. I've heard some talk amongst team members about Pittsburgh as a possible second regional. And again, we're planning on making it down to Atlanta again for championships!
(P.S.-Watch out for a few 25 members at Philly! ;))

Team 296 will probably be going to one of the New England regionals, the Greater Toronto Regional, and, I should hope, the Championship (so as to not waste the first time we ever pre-qualified on merit).
I have no clue which events I'll be going to personally - I'll be on a co-op work term during the 2007 season, so what regionals I'll go to, if any, depends on the location and nature of the job I get.

Palmetto, no question. (Half a mile away or a thousand miles away, they don't call it the best regional in the South for nothing.) Championship would be awesome, and I hope to attend with or without the team.
I'm also hopeful that I'll be able to go down to the Florida Regional for a third year as a spectator/volunteer, but that depends on USC's spring break.

For sure we'll be going to the new San Diego regional. We've also talked about either making our first appearance at the LA regional or returning to Las Vegas, money being the deciding factor.
Just out of curiousity, are there any other teams that are considering coming to San Diego?

I definately will be at New Orleans. I have friends in both Houston and Columbia so I may try to go to Lone Star or Palmetto too. It's still a long way off, so nothing is set in stone yet.

Team 294 is for sure going to LA, we hope for championships. We are considering where are second will be, and a possible third, out of; Vegas, Phoenix, San jose and San Diego.
FLR and the championship for the X-Cats.
We are very predictable.
My personal schedule depends on my vacation time and my wife's mood about me going to FIRST events ( I would like to attend an event in week 1 and possibly GTR again).

578 is aiming for 3 regionals this year as well as some extra money for the championship event if we can. Where will we go?... were still debating about it, we will go to finger lakes. But theres a chance we won't be going to boston this year.
We have talked about New York City, and the Chicago Regional I know.

Las Vegas is a great regional to go to. 25 went there this past year, and the atmosphere was great. Everyone was really helpful and friendly, and they make it very "Las Vegas-y" by having Elvis impersonators and everything. I had a lot of fun there, as did the rest of our team. Also, there was tons to do at night (if we weren't too tired).
If I had the chance to go there again, I definitely would do it! :D

Although nothing has been decided yet, it's a safe bet to say that 587 will be back at VCU. If we have the money, we'll go to the championship. If, in the unlikely event that we have the money to do it, a second regional over spring break could occur, assuming that our spring break and the event's time are the same this year, that would probably be Palmetto.
The CircuitRunners will be definately going to Peachtree as usual. Hopefully Sir Charles will be there again.
A couple of us seniors might go down to volunteer at the New Orleans regional. Most of us aren't having tough 2nd semesters so we will be able to hopefully do that.
No idea where else we will b competeing. Maybe VCU.

That's what we heard. Traditionally we went to phoenix (for reasons lost on me) and I've been to convince them to go to vegas instead because both are about the same distance away from us and have similar overall prices. It's hard to change tradition though, sometimes mentors just don't like change : /, but we like 'em anyway.
1249 will be back at Palmetto. We really enjoyed last year our first at that region. As for the other regional, Pittsburgh if they have one or back to the Buckeye in Cleveland. Depending on funding, we would like to go to championships, we have a group of seniors that started this team four years ago and would like to take them back to Atlanta.

Our team will most likely be heading back to St. louis and Milwaukee. This still depends on when they are and if they interfere with our springbreak.
Is the florida regional on springbreak? I was wondering because our school band is going to florida for springbreak and was just wondering if there was any chance we could stop in and see some competition.

45 will go to the Boilermaker regional for sure, our second is a toss up still, most likely it will be in the midwest somewhere. So, Midwest, GLR, WMR, St. Louis or Cleveland. But as we did last year, we went to GTR, which was a great time, but a really long drive. Basically, we don't know yet, heck, it hasn't even came up yet. But, The Championships we will go to for sure!

Florida regional is always during UCF's (University of Central Florida) spring break. Florida regional and the teams welcome you to come down and join us.

Being within reasonable driving distance is an important factor for us. The team is large enough that we'd really rather not deal with airline fares.
If the schedule permits it, I'm going to put my vote on the Midwest regional. We really missed playing with our near north neighbors this year.

THIS (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29058) should be a reminder to all of you that pig farmers have a very vicious side indeed... (it's too bad the video isn't there anymore)
Living in the Pacific Northwest reminds us of what things in the good old days were like, when there wasn't a regional on every street corner like there is these days. Beyond Portland, OR, the closest event is in Davis, CA -- a 750 mile journey from Seattle!
Since we've got to fly to a second event, whether it be in Davis or Atlanta, we're tentatively planning to attend the event in Los Angeles next year in addition to the Pacific Northwest Regional in Portland.

I'm not officially talking for my team, but we should be going to West Michigan and at least one other regional. Great Lakes, Mid West, Boilermaker, and Buckeye are the most likely ones I think we would be considering. Then you never know, we have been talking about either St. Louis and Milwaukee, but like I said I'm not officially talking for my team. We are also going to the Kettering Kickoff in a couple of weeks.
Edit: Also we will try and go to Nationals, either by registering or winning our way in.
Our team will be attending Arizona as usual, and we are for certain attending one other event. We'll either be going to SoCal, Las Vegas, San Diego, or The Championships. If we're really lucky we'll go to 2 of these events, but with how fundraising has gone so far I don't think that will happen.

571 is trying to raise the money to take the trip all the way from Connecticut! We'll also be at the Hartford regional, and depending on our money situation we will either attend Championships or send a group of volunteers.

Define spring break. Each school district has their own schedule for spring breaks, as do colleges. What might be sprink break for you might not be spring break for me. ;)
EDIT: Of course, some of you guys who have been posting in this thread could always come to the NJ Regional. I promise you it'll be fun! :D

Looks like Toronto just moved up to a strong possibility for team 1403's 2nd regional. We would be honored to play with our friends to the north. :)
New regionals seem to always bring some more teams from longer distances. That's why I'm sad that I won't be in SD next year... Hopefully my school's schedule will permit me to volunteer and maybe even fly home! Anywho, team 812 has been rooting for San Diego regional for so long; I don't think they/we really have a choice.

This might be considered thread jacking, but I'm not sure.
It'd be cool if we compiled a list of what teams active on CD are at each regional. Then at each regional we would have something like a Secret Santa among teams. Each team would make/machine a cool nick nack or gift for another and they would be given to the teams at the regional.

I have it confirmed (read: from a trusted source and from printed flyers sent out to industry) that Palmetto will be March 29-31, which is the traditional Thursday-Saturday. NYC must be doing things a little differently.
(I was inclined to add "as usual" to the end, but I thought that might send the wrong impression; I had nothing but a blast while I was in the city last month. I sure wouldn't mind looking into it as a regional to spectate and volunteer at.)
1923, although this sounds odd, is most likely doing philly. One of the reasons is because of family conflicts [my father judges chairman's for NJ....] & also because NJ is a regional with AMAZING amazing teams, playing at a level our team's not quite ready for. [not that philly area teams aren't amazing as well :-)] We figure we give something new a try. it's about the same distance from our school to either regional, so it's not a huge travel expense.

Championships and.... ??? We don't know yet. Could be Midwest, Boilermaker, West Michigan, Great Lakes, Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis, or Wisconsin. I'd like to go back to Midwest but Cleveland could be fun and we've had great luck at St. Louis. Update to come when the team gets around to deciding where we want to go. But The Championship is a definite. I might not be at any competition though. Makes me sad.
We're going to the Championships if we can afford it; if not then San Diego. Yeah new regionals!

Team 1403 is going to the NJ Regional and the Championship event. We are deciding where to go for our 2nd regional. Some possibilities for our 2nd regional are Detroit, Boston, Florida or Virginia.
As 116 won't decide at least until school starts, I can't tell you where we will be going. But I can say that the NASA/VCU (Virginia) Regional is by far my favorite regional I have attended (VCU, Chesepeake, Philly, Denver, Peachtree). The Siegal Center is a near perfect venue. 64+ teams. Great spirit, great team party (at the Science Museum, and this year they had Krispy Kremes! ;) ). The best MC in FIRST (Jeff Seaton). It has been a Week 1 Regional the past few years, so that can be positive and negative. But it also means that alot of times it can be the focus of attention (as it was this year, as the only week 1 regional webcasted), and many FIRST "celebs" attend to scope out that year's game.
The one problem is if VCU and NJ stay on the same weekend, they will both be Week 1 regionals next year :( So then 1403 couldn't come.
But we encourage everyone else to! ;)
If 116 continues as it has, we will likely attend 2 competitions, most likely a local one and one further away. Hopefully our 2nd competition will be Championship, if not then we might make the trip to somewhere like Peachtree, Pittsburgh, Philly, NJ, Buckeye, or NYC. Of course we could goto both VCU and Chesepeake, like we did in 03 and 04. Who knows.

I am not talking on my team's behalf but we probably will do the local competition this year as always either Detroit or Great Lakes and the Championships, but for the rest, I don't know the past two years we have done three regionals. In 05' we did Detroit, Pittsburgh, and West Michigan, and in 06' we went to Great Lakes, Detroit, and West Michigan along with the Championships both years. I don't know officially until school starts when the team leaders decide where we want to go. Wherever you all decide to go Good Luck and happy competition to all. :) :)

166 is definately going to GSR. We go every year.
We've been alternating whether we go to a second regional, or nationals. We went to nationals this past year, so we're most likely going to another regional next year.
Personally, I'd like to go to either the LA regional, or GLR.

176...definently UTC Hartford and most likely BAE...but that could change. And of course the Championships! What a blast we had everywhere we went. :D
Well Ramtech (Team 59) is going to the Las Vegas regionals, I heard the spirit is awesome there so competition there but we have a secret weapon! Haha! Anyways I doubt we'll go to nationals this year since las vegas is far meaning more money or something. o.o
But next year is my last year and I want to go to nationals again that team social was just off the sprocket.
Hometown Wisconsin Regional and hopefully Toronto for the first time.

Team 1625 will most likely be going to St. Louis week one and Midwest week three and hopefully Nats. We would go to Milwaukee to defend our title but back to back regionals would be really hard on most of our teams grades.

1712 will be attending Philly for sure, and we still have to decide if we want to go to a 2nd regional or try and qualify for The championship, we only have the money for one of the two currently, but I want to try and raise enough money to go to 3 events total, roughly $25,000 bucks. any ideas?

Ask everyone you know, get the whole club involved, and pray for a miracle, that's our approach right now.
We will be attending AZ week 2, and then in theory the Championship. If we don't have enough money we will attend San Diego week 4 (this is a nice time, since it's our spring break). If we're lucky and get lots of sponsorships we'll attend all 3 of them since attending San Diego will not affect our school work in any way.
I hope some of the California teams will still make the trek out to Arizona even with So Cal week 2.
It is sometimes more fun for me when I don't know where other teams are going, so I am going to have to say that it will be a surprise this year where 492 is going.
Team 987, High Rollers is considering heading northward to join the fun at the Silicon Valley Regional this year. Does anyone have any advice regarding great places to stay and eat, preferably walking distance to venue but not absolutely required?
1138 will be going to the LA Regional like always, then going to Boilermaker, and then maybe San Diego. We'll definitely be at ATL.

We will be making a final decision on where we want to go this thursday so far the philidelphia regional and the long island regional are getting the most attention.
NEMO has just released its newest white paper, "Questions to Consider When Choosing Your FIRST Event(s)" which might help teams making a decision on which FLL, FVC or FRC events to attend.
The paper, which was compiled from suggestions from NEMO members, can be found in the Resources section on the NEMO website at www.firstnemo.org and as a white paper in the CD-media section at http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/1872

Team 87 will be attending the Chesapeake and Philadelphia regional this year. We were very upset to hear that we wouldn't be attending NJ regional, but due to scheduling and budgetary issues, it wasn't possible this year.
But we can't wait to see everyone at Chesapeake and Philly!!
For sure we'll be going to the new San Diego regional. We've also talked about either making our first appearance at the LA regional or returning to Las Vegas, money being the deciding factor.
Just out of curiousity, are there any other teams that are considering coming to San Diego?

regional since they are back to back we are a little concerned that the robot may not make it to Vegas. Should we be worried.
You will need to arrange for expedited shipping of your crate. It will be an added cost that you have to be prepared for. It's sometimes very expensive. There are other considerations (http://www.firstnemo.org/PDF/Choosing_Your_Event.pdf) to think of such as getting time off from work (for your mentors/chaperones) and time off from school (for your students) two weeks in a row.
From the 2006 game manual, "6.6.4 Back-to-Back Events

FedEx in this case, because FedEx does not pick up at events on Saturdays and your robot will not make the competition on time. You must make all arrangements early to have your robot ship and arrive on time."

My team... once created and such... will probably only be able to go to St. Louis regional. I would choose KC, but I think we have midterms during that week!
Davis! And Siilicon Valley, if we can get the money.

Team 830 is definitely going to Great Lakes Regional. We're also planning to go to St. Louis, the Championship (if we get in), and maybe Waterloo (if we get funding for a 3rd regional).
Unfortunately due to some political run arounds within our organization, Eagle Corps Robotics Team 1158 had to withdrawn from the Florida Regional. It it unfortunate that politics have to been involved when it comes to a students' possible future. But we still plan on going to the Denver Regional to defend out title, and also return to the Arizona Regional. Bring the season on. Good luck everyone.

610 will be going to the BAE SYSTEMS Granite State Regional, then the Waterloo Regional, and finally, as always, we will be attending the Greater Toronto Regional to finish off our 2007 season. Look out for us at any of these regionals. It looks like we will be the only international team in New Hampshire so you'll be hearing from us there :p

it's too bad that you won't be able to come to florida. it's always a great regional and we were looking forward to showing you all around. good luck in denver. i'd really like to go back again but we usually go to a different 2nd regional each year - we're thinking about las vegas this year.

Team 1641 would like to attend the San Diego regional and the Las Vegas
regional since they are back to back we are a little concerned that the robot may not make it to Vegas. Should we be worried.
I don't think there's been a problem with robots not making it to back to back domestic regionals. The only time it's been a problem was when teams try to do back to back international regionals. There were several teams from San Diego last year that went to LA and then Las Vegas the following weekend all of their robots made it there on time.

Team 1636 is going to Colorado Regional. Yay! Plus the team has been thinking of going to a second regional. It's been a unanimous vote for Arizona but then again there's no real telling because we're still looking for new sponsors but it's looking good.

This is a misleading statement. While you will be fine with San Diego and Vegas, you can run into all kinds of problems with domestic back to back regionals.
For example, if you tried to ship from NY to CA for back to back regionals, it's not going to get there on time, without you paying extra.
Interesting fact--6/10 robots that tried to do back to back regionals in different time zones weren't there on thursday morning last year.

Why aren't you competing next year?
We are officially signed up for the Wisconsin Regional and the Greater Toronto Regional.
If all (or most) of the pending teams register, Arizona and Finger Lakes will be the only US regionals not filled. I don't believe I've ever seen the regional list so full before.

Believe it or not, Chesapeake almost always opens up additional spots for teams who want to go after the deadline. We usually get 11 or 12 teams in addition to the first 54 and I know there were several teams pending that could not get in (by the time 2199 registerred) (204, 224, 1676, 1895, 1975 namely). There might be some teams coming in, who may decide in the last minute to go as we are actually 1 under our original limit. (2 teams left: 2086 left to join 1893 and 2088 is building up for next year.) So in theory, there is one more spot (regularly open). 53 teams means way too much room! (The current venue fits 70 teams comfortably, with plenty of stands/pit room left (unless TJ2 comes again). The only problem is needing a second field. There were 65 last year and I think 60 in 2005 and the regional has averaged over 60 teams since 2004. Just food for thought and something to tell FIRST to open up Chesapeake Regional
