There have been several recent news reports of damage (due to rocket attacks) to Kiryat Shemona High School in northern Israel. Is that the home of FRC Team 1582? Does anyone know the extent of the damage to the school?

I actually wondered today if there would even be an Isreali regional due to all of the turmoil in the region. It sounds pretty dnagerous right now.

That is indeed the home of 1582, but do not know the extent of the damage I hope they are doing well. It will be interesting to see if there is a regional there this year. :)

It's a shame that something like this had to occur, I have had the honor of talking with some of the students on the Israeli teams before at The Championship. They seem just as enthusiastic about the program as their counterparts over here. I hope this conflict does indeed end before the start of the season, although it doesn't look likely, and I hope that all the teams in Israel continue to exist after this and that the regional does happen in the future.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiryat_Shmona), there are 6 high schools in the area. 1582's school is Danziger HS, however I haven't seen any reports mention that (or any other) school by name.

According to this article (http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/747982.html), Danzinger high school is still there, and currently housing that neighborhood's situation room.

While Israel is a small country the differences between the north (where the fighting is taking place) and the south (Tel Aviv) is night and day. The Israel regional will be held in Tel Aviv this coming year where it still is mostly safe. While this unfortunately may have effects on specific teams being able to compete, The event is still scheduled to happen in between weeks 2 and 3 this upcoming season.
