Teams needed in Washington DC Sept 16 & 17

I have been asked to post this message. This is not the Capital Clash but is a demo at the same venue!


Message to Teams:
Attention MD, DC, VA teams!
Get Connected with the public this weekend at the Washington DC
Convention Center.

Team 341 is inviting interested local teams to display their machines and information at the NBC4 Connected Show at the Washington DC Convention Center this coming weekend. (9/16 &9/17) our display will have a driving zone where kids can take the robotics challenge and a special area set up only as a display space for DC, MD, & VA teams to meet the public.


We are looking for about 4 to 8 teams to divide about 16 hours of show time. All we ask is that you bring an operating robot (any year), your uniforms shirts, and your gracious professionalism. If you are willing to help us with staffing the show that would be a bonus, but is not required. This show is a blast and we hope to see you there!

Thanks for posting this! We understand this is short notice but we wanted to share this opportunity. We feel a strong bond with the teams of the Chesapeake Regional, Capitol Clash and surrounding area.

If your team can't make it but you want to drop off team brochures, we will display them as best we can. We hope that as many teams as possible can benefit from this opportunity.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by our booth here in DC on Saturday. Especially Janet Lathan, DC Senior Mentor for providing general FIRST Handouts and local DC/MD/VA FIRST information.

We have a 20' x 40 ' mock field with a simulated 2006 goal. We have had lots of little kids, big kids, and even the NBC Peacock driving FIRST machines and getting excited about robotics. We have also had lots of inquiries about starting teams in the DC area.

If you are in the DC area on Sunday, please feel free to stop in. The NBC4 show is free and so is our booth. :)

I'll try to post some pictures when we get home on Sunday night!

The NBC4 Connected Show finished as a huge success. Over 25,000 people attended the show over the two days that we demonstrated. The seriousness of the attendees was also quite inpressive. We have many contacts from people that want to start FIRST Teams in the MD/DC/VA area.
Over the next few days, we will try to match these people with local teams.

We sincerely hope that this effort helped the FIRST organization and the teams of the MD/DC/VA region.
