I know this is with good intentions, but there exists a very specific flag code and while I haven't read it personally, I can't possible believe the overlaying of numbers and words onto the flag would be permissable. It seems a bit wrong to me.

It seems a bit wrong to me.Technically, this isn't the US flag. It is, on the other hand, a representation of one, which doesn't fall under the same guidelines as a standard flag would. If I'm not mistaken, on a US flag, the bottom stripe is supposed to be just a slight bit larger than all the rest, which doesn't appear to be true in this one.

There are a lot of things you are not supposed to do with the American Flag that is abused every day.

Did you eat off of an American Flag plate or have a Flag napkins during your party on the 4th of July this year? Do you have a flag on your school backpack or team shirt by any chance?
If so, you are in violation of the flag ettiquette.
And yes, it is etiquette and not law.
Are there penalties for violating the Flag Code?
No. The Flag Code is intended as a guide to be followed on a purely voluntary basis to insure proper respect for the flag.

If I remember correctly, which doesn't happen very often, didn't the government (congress or high courts) vote to allow flag defamation under free speech? Or maybe it was visa versa.

I don't remember where i heard this (i think on the news) a reporter brought up the same thing and I guess the government gave them permission to do this/display it..(even though you really don't *need* permission)
