Greetings Teams:
Welcome to the 2007 FRC Season! We hope you all have had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to another great year of robotics fun and challenge - we certainly are!
Our "2007 Calendar of Important Deadline Dates" can now be found at http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2007/frc_time.htm and for those of you who have not yet seen our "2007 Event Schedule" it is posted at http://www.usfirst.org/frc/public/
We want to point out that Pre-registration will begin on line via the Team Information Management System (TIMS) September 21st at 12:00 noon EDT. Please remember all teams are required to complete the pre-registration process prior to being able to select an event during event registration, which starts October 2nd at 12:00 noon EDT.
We are looking forward to having you all back with us this season. As always, if you have any questions please contact us at frcteams@usfirst.org.
Go Teams!

Will TIMS be open today? It is not at the moment.

I remember it opening late last year as well.
In fact I remember having this same conversation with all of you last year.
Eager aren't we? :)

Looks to be open now. The page loads anyways.
I don't know about logging in. But.... yeah.

Yep, logged in and typing away...
I actually read all that stuff too.
The good news is TIMS is populated with last year's team information, so there's not a lot of work to do if things haven't changed much.

The option was there last year as well. In fact TIMS still has my contact info. checked to share from last year, so I didn't have to do anything.
Will they really share the contact data this year? Just to teams who want to be mentored?
When I helped beta testing the TIMS last week, there was a link to page showing contacts. It needed some tweaks but my understanding is that it will be available this year. FIRST got feedback that teams really wanted this.
Can't remember what the box says (I have a dummy record and dummy team :) . Do you have to indicate wanting mentoring?

I don't see any link (from the Team Summary page?).
I tried checking that we wanted to be mentored, but I didn't see any new menu options appear. Interestingly, the form allows us to check both that we will mentor other teams, and that we want to be mentored by another team. Sort of a circular mentoring scheme.
Maybe it will open up when the database gets built up some more.

Mark,
I believe that mentoring info goes on the website in the section with the map where you can look up teams in your area, events, etc.
The check box was under the main contact/alternate info, but there may be an issue with this that I haven't heard about.

Okay.
The check box is there.
FIRST probably just needs time to add the contact lookup to the production team map. I wonder how they'll protect the contact information over there though? It'll still need a TIMS-like password to keep the spam address collectors at bay.

I do not believe it will go to the map. I think the contact list will just be available through the TIMS. Different than the "willing to mentor" list.

Update:
The Team Mentor contact information that Jenny spoke of is now available from the TIMS main page.
There is a link in the upper right "What's New" box. It then has you select a state and you get a list of main contacts for each team willing to mentor. All contact information is treated as restricted, such as phone numbers and is left off, unless a check box choice has been made in the TIMS contact information section.
A few bugs in their database access key fields, but only Brazil may notice.
