Last year team 47, Chief Delphi, gave out side shields for prescription eye glasses. Many of our team members wear glasses, and have trouble fitting safety glasses over them, so we were wondering if anyone knows where these can be purchased, preferably in bulk. Thanks.
I don't think side shields meet First safety requirements. There are goggles and other safety glasses that fit over glasses. Grainger has many types available and sell side shields. If they're not OSHA approved they shouldn't be First approved.

I believe that they do meet the first requirements if you have polycarbonate lenses in your glasses, however we are using these for OCCRA anyway, which has different rules and regulations than FIRST. If I am wrong please correct me.

As I understand it, from an authoritive source, Chief Delphi was advised to stop giving out the side shields. Not because they weren't safe or against the rules - they were fine. The problem is they have to be used with poly-carb lenses in glasses, and anyone passing out the shields has no way of knowing whether or not your glasses are safe. Someone who suffered an eye injury might sue the person that passed out the side shields, claiming he thought they made his glasses safe.

Which is why i'm glad i have both polycarb glasses and sideshields. at GLR one of the refs even stoppped me and checked. so if you are using side shields, makes SURE you have polycarb lenses.
