I tried to lsee who was attending going by the official site here:
http://www.batb.us/

But... alas, it seems to have fallen victim of the dreaded off-season website non-updating curse as so many team sites have in the non-busy season of FRC Robotics..

Post here if you and/or your team are planning on going.

I know there is a NEMO meeting there but that's the only info I have so far.

I know there is a NEMO meeting there but that's the only info I have so far.
NEMO will be facilitating a workshop for mentors for all FIRST robotics programs on Teambuilding. The event is free but requires pre-registration. Registration ends on October 7, so contact me now if you are planning to attend the workshop!

Please spread the word to any mentors from CT and surrounding areas who may be interested in attending the workshop. Thanks. :)

RAGE is scheduled to be there. Currently there are a few other conflicts that day for some of the mentors so it may be hard, but I am pretty sure that the team will be down there. Unfortunately many of our mentors will be at Rentschler Field manning kiosks, which is a huge fundraiser for our team.

well just back from bash about an hour or two ago and it was amazing, it was good to see a lot of teams let new drivers try out, even if it was just because they lost them last year, but besides for the time delay which cut off some matches i thought it was really good.

The winning alliance was 1519, 173, and 1027.

However, entire thing was not run very well. They were more than 2 hours behind and had to cut the last 8 qualifying matches. They also switched to single elimination after the quarter finals because they were having field trouble and wanted to finish before the entire thing broke down. We eventually finished at around 7 pm and had a speedy award cerimony while they were tearing down the field in order to be ready for the arival of a truck at 8 pm to take the field.

Sorry we couldn't stay :(

Congrats to 1519, 173, and 1027. 1519 clearly had the best robot on the field during qualifications :D

First of all, we apologize for the time delays. Bash@theBeach is a volunteer run event and we do the best we can with what we have.

We did run into technical difficulties with the field. The whole scoring system CRASHED in the Semi-Finals...we lost everything...including control of the field. We borrowed the field from FIRST and they provided directions for the scoring system. Luckily, DEZ was there to get us back on track and at least get the single eliminations in at the end.

Overall, I would say another good day at the beach!

No need to apologize. Bash happens. Your people did a great job of adjusting all day.

Anyone have more of a comprehensive list of alliances?

Anyone have more of a comprehensive list of alliances?

The alliances were computer generated, so they probably wouldn't have turned out the same way. The only ones I remember were the winning alliance; 1519, 173, and 1027 (congrats!) and the our alliance; 1124, 190, and 500 (thanks 190 and 500- we couldn't have made it to the finals without you). I left my sheets with the alliances and my strategy notes on the bus in our rush to get everything back into the school, which is too bad.

Although I was disappointed with the way things were run (the 2-hour delay which meant cutting out qualifying matches, the field trouble which meant cutting out elimination rounds and scoring by hand), I still have to say that Bash @ the Beach was definitely worth it! I had a blast, my team had a great time, and it seems like everyone else there did, too. We went there with a main goal of training all our newcomers, and they did an amazing job. Their improvement over the course of the day was phemomenal, whether in driving, coaching, scouting, or spirit, and now everyone has experienced the atmosphere of a competition. So thanks for everything to team 236 for hosting and operating Bash! I can't imagine how much work you put into it!

I hope everyone else there had a great time like I did. (-:

Our alliance was 176, 195, and 1099. Thats the only one I can remember.

716 + 121 + 1511

artdutra04

Here were the alliances; the first eight teams were the top 8 teams, and the second two picks were automatically completed by the computer. Alliance 1 is first, alliance 2 is second, and so on.

1519 - 173 - 1027
181 - 571 - 839
228 - 2067 - 1740
176 - 195 - 1099
716 - 121 - 1511
1124 - 500 - 190
809 - 1784 - 230
237 - 341 - 238

1519, 181, and 228 were all tied with a 5-1 record in the qualification rounds. I may also have the match results from every match, but I wouldn't know for sure until Wednesday if we still have them. (My mother recorded all the match results while cheering on all the teams, but I believe the paper is in with all the team's supplies at the high school.)

Overall, I was pleased with Bash at the Beach this year. Except for the field malfunctions, the event was fun as always. For many of the new members on 228, this was their first FIRST competition and they loved it. Thanks to the Dominion teams for hosting this event!

Hopefully later this week I will post a photo gallery and videos from the event onto my team's website.

I just wanted to say thank you to Team 236 on behalf of Team 341.

We had a great time all day long. Speaking as an operator of an off-season event, I know the difficulties faced and the work that goes into planning an off-season event.

In reference to the scheduling delays, I would only offer two ideas.

1) Be tough on teams not ready to take the field. I think it helps prepare the rookies for the real season anyway. At Ramp Riot we move the match forward no matter what. Even if its our team or an old friend it does not matter. Sometimes my own team gets mad at me. :D

2) Have a back up plan to keep operating without the scoring or control systems. In 2001 we lost the entire field control. We switched over to dongles on the competition ports, red cards to represent the stop button, and power point for scoring. We just kept rolling with the matches and finished just 30 minutes behind.

But that being said we had a blast at the BASH!!!

Your efforts are definitely noticed by many.

Well that was classy of them.

Absolutely, also very typical of them, they haven't won chairmans awards the last 4 years because of lack of competition in New England.

We had a great time. The delays just meant that the team actually had to spend more time together. The event still held very well. And everyone loved the guy with the markers. :) . People crowded around the scoring station like there was no tomorrow. Some tension.

Thanks for a good time,

Daisy
