The webcast isn't working here for me. It might be too busy

Try using VLC it seems to be working the best for most people.

Agreed.. I'm a little confused

Does anyone notice that some teams in the rankings do not have all matches? Like, a few have only 6. The same is true for a few other regionals.

There's been no selections between the top 8 - WOW!! This seems unusual?

There's been no selections between the top 8 - WOW!! This seems unusual?

Yeah that is unusual. Most of the powerhouses were not in top 8 tho so I suppose it was expected here...

Heretic121
03-03-2007, 12:32
i gotta say this is because of one thing... and one thing only...

RAMPS...

I know certian teams from who i talked to last night were not going to pick most teams in the top 8 because they lacked GOOD ramps...

I guess we will see how it all unfolds ;-)

STL alliance pairings are delayed until 12:45 their time. I believe they had ranking problems too.

Ah, Week 1.....

Doug G
03-03-2007, 13:11
Seed 1 wins QF1.1 easily 136 to 4. Way to score ringers with still some defense being played!!

Doug G
03-03-2007, 13:36
Halfway through QF1.2, #1 seed was winning but they stopped it when a spider leg fell off. They have to replay it.

Travis Hoffman
03-03-2007, 13:50
#1 seed will win without a reliable 2 @ 12 bot to oppose them....

I'd love to see the #7 alliance face them. 486 is the closest thing to one in the elims.

EDIT - ....and I get my wish.

We'll see offense vs. defense here....

That was a pretty sweet final. Shame about the resets, but once the action was going in the elims, the bots were really awesome.

Why did we lose the 8th qualification round, though?

Was anyone else really frustrated with the gigantic delay in alliance selection? That wasn't cool. Why didn't they just say "we're having troubles, go eat lunch now" instead of "do the macarena and cotton eyed joe and then have 20min to eat!." ??

PAPAYAflvrdSOX
03-03-2007, 17:34
yeah... that delay totally me off. it would have been much better if they had said that there were problems instead of have all of us just wait.

This will be a fun year.

Great regional, too bad they got a bad rap for running into the worst of problems during the finals, it was running so well that everyone went home EARLY (not on time, but ahead of schedule) yesterday. For my last NJ Regional as a student, I had quite the time between Engineering Inspiration and WFA (Go Mr. Leicht!).

I'd like to put out a nice thank you to two teams in particular, 303 and 75. 303, you know it, and 75 your our best teammates (see below), thanks for being great partners with 11.

Hope to see everyone at Monty Madness 2 on May 19th, this time co-hosted by your 2007 Chairman's Winners 75, and 1403.

Thank you everyone I had a great time and thats all I needed.

ROOKIE ALL-STAR NEW JERSEY

Thanks Team 75 and J&J.

Congrats on the award. Its a shame that my team didn't win it but it just goes to prove that you were the better team this year. Thats alright, we still got the Highest Seeded Rookie Team (9th). Plus our sister school, Team 2191 getting the Inspiring Rookie Award. Represent Hamilton! :) Good job on all of the teams this year! Wish we could go to nationals and more regionals to compete with you all some more!

P.S. Kasey and Morgan on Team 88, I will miss dancing with you all in the mascot pit. :)

The funny part about all of the final matches was the ladder sheet we (the volunteers) could not get copies easily & it doesn't exsist on the new scoring system. Yeah you may have saw it on the screen but it is not coded to be printed at all. We had some special people working very diligently in printing out a very close substitute which worked perfectly.

Maybe a total of 4 - 6 matches ran w/o the sounds not running (Charge, Buzzer, End Game), Maybe one or two scoring system foul ups.

Music was alright, nothing to brag out about definitaley loud enough.

Maybe a couple matches got messes up by the scoring system causing the score to be off.

Team Queueing held up all day as well as Field Rep/Reset.

Had many popped tubes and most if not all were given away as souvenoirs.

oh yes, the mounds of popped tubes dissapearing to the masses. The only problem i had with that was that everyone was very anxious and excited to get down there and grab as many tubes as they could, yet when i went back into the arena when it was mostly empty, a quick survey of the stands showed that a lot of popped tubes were littering the stands and seats of the stadium. Congrats and good luck in Atlanta teams 25,103 and 1302.

I would like to thank 359 and 486 for being such an amazing alliance. I never thought that we would advance all the way to the final match. Good luck 359 in Vegas & good luck 486 in Philly and Atlanta.

http://www2.usfirst.org/2007comp/events/NJ/rankings.htmlUmm, yeah. There was a glitch in the rankings tabulation and those aren't correct. All teams completed 7 rounds (and a few did 8 to fill in the matches) - which was our first clue that not all was well in the data.

Great heaping kudos to Sara and Darrell for exporting the qualification match results (http://www2.usfirst.org/2007comp/events/NJ/matchresults.html) to Excel and creating an accurate ranking - in less than 30 minutes!

Congrats to all the teams that competed at the NJ Regional. I must agree with everyone that this is one of best regionals in FIRST. Today was one heck of a competition.

Remarks

Team 75 and 1403: Congrats to 75 for winning Chairmans Award and 1403 for winning Engineering Inspiration Award. You guys truly deserve this honors for the hard work and dedication you put into FIRST.

Wayne P: Amazing job as an emcee for this regional, one of the best in FIRST!

Monty's Madness will return for another round of great robot competition in New Jersey. When I got the pamphlet, I was ecstatic.

Volunteers: It was fun meeting all you and sharing this wonderful experience together.

I must say that this is one of the greatest robotics competition that I have been to for a long time now. I had a blast meeting other volunteers and talking to other them about FIRST. Good luck to all teams in upcoming regionals.

So I'm pretty sure (and also pretty sure that everyone else on 1547 agrees) that NJ was one of the best regionals we've ever been to. It actually made me cry at the end. Thanks to everyone that made it so memorable!!! Congrats to every team that won an award.

A special thanks to Wayne for letting Waldo do his hair and all the random spirit things (the hokey pokey, the conga line, and the wave). Love everyone!!! Boston in 3 weeks - hope to see most of you again there.

Glad you thought so. It was nice to meet some Canadian "sisterin", particularly Canadian FIRST "sisterin". Hope you return to NJ again. My whole team was teasing me about the national anthem when you guys were singing it- it had been a long time since I had heard it, and I enjoyed it. (Thanks for showing my team how the anthem really goes- half the time, they're just "Oh Canada, Oh Canada, ...")I really want one of those shirts too- Zara should be getting in touch with you guys soon. Congrats on the Imagery Award, and hopefully you'll return.

Congrats to 25, 103, and 1302 for winning. Congrats to 75 for a well-deserved Chairman's and to 1403 for the Engineering Inspiration. Congrats also go to 2016 for the Rookie All Star award- we won it our rookie year. Show the judges you deserved it by coming back and doing more next year.

Thanks everyone for a great regional!!

Here is full resolution videos of both the (not including the false starts and field resets) Finals matches (http://www.team358.org/history/2007/extras/).
I have quarter and semifinal matches as well and may add them.

I must add that the level of play during the Elimination rounds was fantastic on everyone's part. Your robots really showed their stuff!

Specials include the Waldo conga line, the 359 hula, and Pete Kieselbach on vacuum.

Heh...

I'd like to thank both Teams 103 and 1302 for being AMAZING alliance partners - we look forward to playing with you at the Championship Event!

Also, congrats to the Finalist Alliance, 359, 486, and 1155 - you put in a tremendous amount of effort, and made the final matches very interesting. It was awesome playing against our friends from Hawaii, and if all goes well, hopefully we can visit you next year!

I'd also like to thank teams 1547, 1923, and 1089 for letting us borrow batteries for our alliance during the elimination matches.

I have to agree with the others and say that this was the best NJ Regional that I've yet to experience - there were definitely many memorable moments, matches, and crazy plays.

Thank you so much to all of the teams who were at the 2007 NJ Regional. You all made the regional an amazing experience for me, as well as for the rest of my team.

A special congratulations to the NJ Regional Champions, 25, 103, and 1302. You all did an amazing job, and your robots were truly outstanding.

Congrats to 1403 for your Engineering Inspiration Award, 2191 for the Rookie Inspiration Award, as well as to 2016 for winning the Rookie All Star Award.

To all other teams, congratulations for your hard work, dedication, and efforts at this year's event.

I am truly proud of all of you.

For our first time to NJ, and I believe, to a Week 1 regional, 177 had tons of fun and really enjoyed the competition at NJ. Congratulations to all of the award winners, especially for 1403's Engineering Inspiration, 75's Chairmans, all of the rookie awards, and the WFA. Also, thank you to the great teams who defined the regional, including, but not limited to, 75 for ALL of their assistance everywhere, 1547 for the Wave and the Canadian National Anthem (I can't believe I've never actually heard it before), and of course, our alliance partners, 223 and 2191 for being great team-mates.

I apologize to all of the people who did not see me (Sorry for ignoring you Laura) as I was running around trying to get 177 queued all of the time yet deal with NASA losing power to Kennedy Space Center for the webcast. Roho - I still need to trade shirts.

Also, we should have a full archive of all of the Saturday Matches in full quality. It will make its way to the TBA TV archives soon enough, but if anyone really wants some specific matches, Sam Hillyer from 177 (AV_Guy on CD), should be able to help you out.

PS: Congrats to 2191, our alliance partners, on their Rookie Inspiration. The Judges were asking us about your team after Alliance Selection, but after playing with you guys, it looks like our good word wasn't needed with how impressive your robot and your team was. Congratulations!

Congrats to all award winners!

First and foremost, thanks and congrats to our alliance partners 103 and 1302.

Thank you 359, 1155 and 486 for an exciting final match. It was great to see you guys come all the way from Hawaii.

I hope you Canadian folks had fun too...

1089 - thank you for your batteries.

NJ Regional committee - lets have more than 7 matches next year per team...

Wayne Penn- happy birthday!:p

Ok I just got home (woke up at 4am, at the arena by 7, worked SBA until 5ish, then worked until 1) so I'd like to add my few cents in and apologize in advance if my post runs long...

Great heaping kudos to Sara and Darrell for exporting the qualification match resultsto Excel and creating an accurate ranking - in less than 30 minutes!

I second what Pete is saying. If it weren't for Sara and Darrell we'd still bet there right now. What you three were able to do with that field is nothing short of miraculous.

So I'm pretty sure (and also pretty sure that everyone else on 1547 agrees) that NJ was one of the best regionals we've ever been to. It actually made me cry at the end. Thanks to everyone that made it so memorable!!! Congrats to every team that won an award.

A very big thank you to our Canadian friends from Where's Waldo for helping keep the excitement up (not to mention doing a great job on Wayne's and my hair). We'd love to see you back next year and many many more years to come.

Of course the congrats go out to 25, 103, and 1302. 25 going back to back and 103 going back to back to back. Winning a regional once is impressive, let alone being able to repeat numerous times.

To Wayne: You did an amazing job as MC, the excitement you poured into the event was breathtaking and I personally cannot wait to work with you in the upcoming weeks.

To everyone else in attendance, thanks for making this the best NJ Regional in my 8 year career with FIRST.

Unfortunately the pit display throughout the day only showed the overall ranking of teams and not their win-loss record. Maybe the "improved" version will correct this oversight.

Great heaping kudos to Sara and Darrell for exporting the qualification match results (http://www2.usfirst.org/2007comp/events/NJ/matchresults.html) to Excel and creating an accurate ranking - in less than 30 minutes!

Good job Sara!

What a great Regional!

Thanks to Wayne, and, of course, the voice of NJ, George. Y'all made the event so fun to watch, and kept everyone involved. [p.s. thanks, Wayne, for letting me do your hair on saturday :P]

I'm so happy that the group from 103 let me join them in singing our national anthem, [p.s. anyone have that on a video? My parents weren't able to catch it, as they were busy volunteering. it'd make their day] Thanks to Becca, Nate, and Sara(h?) from the Cybersonics, it was great working with you.

One humongous thank you to the teams that helped us out this year [and there were many...], 1923 is very grateful for everything you did for us. You showed us that the most important part anyone can lend is just a hand, and we really appreciate it.

Even though we didn't do so well as a team, I know I had a blast meeting everyone and just being at the regional. Thanks to all the volunteers that helped make it happen, and I'll see everyone in [maybe] Atlanta, and definitely at Monty Madness in may!

Missing the regional already,
Libby
[a.k.a. OH MY GOD IT'S LIBBY KAMEN!!!! (thanks Big Mike.....GREAT idea:p)]

Pic of Spider without a foot! Quickly fixed by the great team of volunteers.Everyone who enjoyed this year's NJ Regional can thank the quiet fellow in the tan ballcap, Fred Harding. Some of you may know him as the recently-retired team leader of the Tigertrons (FRC 222) and the the driving force behind the PA Robot Challenge. Fred was the FIRST Technical Advisor for this event and the man in charge of the field from the time the truck dropped it off Wednesday morning until the last piece was back on the truck Saturday night. He's the one people should thank for making sure the field worked, and I think we'll all agree that, despite the beating 59 terrific teams gave it, the field in NJ did work (and almost never broke). It was a pleasure (and a blast) to work with Fred and you'll be able to see him in action again next week at the Finger Lakes Regional (http://www.firstrochester.org/).

I, on behalf of Team 836, would like to thank all the teams at the NJ Regional for a great event! It was our first trip to Trenton, and hopefully not our last! Congrats to 25, 103 and 1302 for a well deserved championship! Congrats to 359, 486 and 1155 for a great job in the QFs against us, and through out the elimination rounds!

Thanks to Spike and the Tribe for being on our alliance - I hope we get to team up with you again sometime, and would like to invite all of you to head to our regional, The Chesapeake Regional at the USNA in Annapolis, MD sometime!

Lastly, congratulations to team 75 for the Chairman's award!

Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work in making this such a great event!

I am going to talk to my teacher tomorrow to see if he will register us for Monty Madness. Then once again our mascots will battle it out. Hopefully my mascot wont use your crutch to break your mascots sword again.

Hello from the guy with the PINK belt

I want to thank our alliance 237 and 293 for doing all we could ask for in the elimination round. I would also like to congradulate all the teams winning the various awards.

I believe that we were the first ones to score all the way around the rack, Match number 7. And I know I scored a ringer in competition, but did anybody else do it throughout the qualification matches?

Hey - I want to send a thank you out to IFI for making the radios a non issue. I know before the competition started there was a lot of anxiety about the radios, but I think they did a tremendous job in making the radios a non issue.

To all of the teams who competed - thanks for once again making the Jersey Regional the best. You all were fantastic and great to see. Thanks to 25 and 1302 for making the championship possible and providing more excite than this old bald guy can handle. Can't wait for Philly!!

I would like to second that.

We had some issues with our radios during build season and had to send them back. IFI replaced them and got them to us on time for the competition. Once we downloaded the new master code to our robot, everything ran smoothly.

I know that we had no problem with the radios the entire competition. So thank you to IFI for fixing those few problems with the radios.

Also, thank you to the representative (sorry, can't remember the name!) from IFI for helping us to get in touch with someone who could help us figure out why our auto wasn't working.

Congratulations to all teams participating at the 2007 NJ regional. I have to admit that this was the most fun NJ regional of my high school days.

Congratulations to 25, 103, and 1302 for a well deserved win.

For the past 10 years I have had a chance to watch team 75 grow. IMHO, team 75 is one of the most gracious teams I have ever encountered. You guys are always thinking about others first and without your assistance team 1403 may have never gotten started. No matter what the situation may be for any team in need of help, team 75 will always be there to help them. When I told my brother and sister (both are 75 alumni), they were absolutely ecstatic. Congratulations on this well deserved Chairman's Award and I wish you the best of luck in the future. (By the way, our team has all of a sudden become obsessed with polishing the robot..... I guess I am saying thanks for giving us a new between-match-hobby :))

And to my team, 1403.... Great job guys. I have watched you guys develop over the past four years and I am proud to say that you have come a long way. Of course there were ups and downs, but you guys just kept on moving. Starting by winning the Rookie All Star Award in 2004 and winning the Engineering Inspiration Award in my graduating year are memories I will never forget. I leave you guys after this year knowing that you will have a lasting impact on the world. I am glad that you have achieved this success and I look forward to seeing many more great things come from you guys in the future.

Teams 75 and 11, thank you for being such great allies in the Finals. I wish we could have gone further, but we all had fun and that's what is most important. Good luck at the rest of your competitions!

Congratulations to Tim Leicht, team advisor of 1403 and former advisor of 303, for winning the Woodie Flowers Award. You deserve the award for all of your hard work and dedication. Words cannot describe how much of a positive impact you have had on the team. I don't think anyone on 1403 will forget that moment when you had tears in your eyes after they announced your name (but just in case they do forget, we have plenty of footage of it ;) )

Thank you to all of the volunteers, mentors, and FIRST'ers who made this regional possible. Without your dedication, we wouldn't be able to brag about having one of the best regionals in the country!

Hope to see everyone in Boston, Atlanta or Monty Madness.

I just wanted to thank 25 and 103 for a really great time. This was by far the best NJ regional I have ever been a part of.

It was great going to the NJ Regional for the first time. We had a blast.

Congrats to the winning alliance. Team 103 is a team we are close too. We were also happy to see Tim Leicht win WFA. He is an amazing coach and a nice guy.
Also congrats to team 75 for Chairmans and Team 1403 for EI.
