Attached is the XLS file Mr. Howard has sent me. This shows the top 12 scores for each team. This is what rankings are based upon.

On Saturday you will have 2 additional matches that may improve your overall score for ranking.

The top 6 teams CANNOT select each other. We will start with #1 ranked team and work our way down.

The tournament will be a double elimination tournament (losers bracket).
We will be posting the tournament tree soon ( I hope). We need to confirm the number of teams attending the championship as it may involve some bye matches.

If you see what you think are errors please let us know.

Mr. Martus-

I'll start by going through the list of possible errors that was posted by psquared89 in the other rankings thread (here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=534689&postcount=5)):

Team #33: Their match score of 25 points from OLSM was not recorded into the rankings (provided that this score is correct - it is in the spreadsheet you provided last week)
Team #65: On NFHSRobotics.org their 1st match score for OLSM is erroneously recorded as 14 points when it is actually 13 (no error in the official rankings)
Team #245: Again, no official error - the score is recorded as 5 points instead of 4 points on team 17's page
Team #72: Same deal as Team #65, 1 point recording error
Team #777: The spreadsheet that I've been using doesn't have any discrepancies, so I think it may be yet another recording error.
Team #1: Their second score of 13 points from WLN is not used in determining their ranking score - it should replace the score of 5 points that is currently being used.

With the exception of Team #33 and Team #1, the rest of these discrepancies seem to be just recording errors.* I've attached the spreadsheet that I've been using along with the official standings from last week and highlighted the matches in question.

That aside, I have a question about the bracket style - will the champions of the winners bracket and the loser's bracket face off in the finals, as done in the NCAA, or will the winners and losers bracket finalists face each other in the semifinals, as was done last year in OCCRA?

_Alex

* However, I still would like to thank team 17 for recording these scores throughout the tournaments and essentially providing a live rankings list - its made playing the game of statistics easier :D

I am currently trying to update our teams website to have the correct scores, but the statement that 245's first match should be recorded as 4 instead of 5 seems a bit off because unless I am mistaking, Team 573 and 245 were partners in match 5 at DCC.

According to Rank Differentials spreadsheet 245 got 4 pts for their first match, and team 573 got 5 pts for their first match.

So do we have a consensus for whether it was 4 or 5 pts?

Good point, I didn't notice that at first. The official rankings spreadsheet does show the two different scores, so I'm not sure which one is right. I've now updated that into the spreadsheet I attached in my first reply.

Our team has the match recorded as 5 points. While by no means an 'official' answer, we've had at least two people recording scores every match, and they both came up with 5. My guess is it's just a simple typo, which is what this wonderfully open peer-review process is for.

Please send or contact Mr. Justin Howard with this information. I just post what he sends me.

It is very important that the scores is accurate.

I would question why errors were not brought to his attention earlier.

At some point they will be what they are recorded as. I know he has EVERY score sheet from ALL matches in a three ring binder, in order so it will be easy to check.

Please contact him at OTCNE.

Dear OCCRA folks,
First, thanks for this labor of love that you guy's selfishly operate
for the students of Oakland County.

Second, I think the rankings may change big time on Saturday.
In the case of team 1286, from OTC-SE, which two of my son's
are playing on, I think the ranking will sky-rocket! There are
two scores with zero and 3 with three points that will most
likely be replaced with numbers above twelve since they
finally got their ball bucket functioning.

I say this to encourage all teams to do their best on the coming
Saturday and watch how much the existing standings will
change from today until the final OCCRA 2006 match is played.
See everyone on Saturday! :]

I agree that some teams will have there standings changed but by what you are saying your team is hoping to drop 5 matches (please correct me if I am wrong). According to OCCRA there will only be two more seating matches before the competition which means that your team would only be able to drop the two zero scores. Now please correct me if I am wrong I may have misread your post but there will only be two more seating matches before the tournament, unless something happened that I don't know about yet. Anyway I hope to see you guys and all other teams this Saturday and good luck to everyone. :D

You are right sam that there is only two seating matches this saturday at the championship, but if they can score a good amount of points. maybe 12 or more who knows maybe they'll move up a bit in the rankings.

I completely agree because there is a big difference between a low score in the single digits and a high score around 20 or 30. Just one match could make a huge difference. Actually I would love to see the standings shake up a bit at the last minute to make the competition a real cliff hanger. From what I have seen in the standings many teams are close so a good match could result in 3 to 5 positions gained.
