Hello, does anyone know where I can get a good PHP script for a forum/message board. (Doesn't have to be free)
Hello, does anyone know where I can get a good PHP script for a forum/message board. (Doesn't have to be free)
Here are some that you may want to look into:
phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com) - Free
SMF (http://www.simplemachines.org/) - Free
Invision Power Board (http://www.invisionpower.com/ip.dynamic/products/board/index.html)
vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com) - This is what CD uses
A few more good forum softwares :confused: are;
YaBB (http://www.yabbforum.com/)
Snitz (http://forum.snitz.com/)
XMB (http://www.xmbforum.com/)
Burning Boards (http://www.woltlab.de/products/burning_board/index_en.php)
Those are just a few, though i think YaBB is not PHP based it is still pretty good. A good site to look at though is Big Boards (http://www.big-boards.com/resources/software/) they have listing of most all big forum software free and commercial. They even have them categorized by their base language (PHP, Perl, etc...)

phpbb and SMF are probably the two most widely used forum software productions. I favor SMF because I find it easier to maintain and administrate than phpbb and others, but it too has its downsides.
Even though there are lots of options, I highly recommend phpBB. I've installed it a few times already and as long as you keep up with the versions (security updates, patches) it's great and rock solid. Very fast in speed & processing and the mySQL integration goes along very well. :cool:
I have used phpBB and SMF alot. Both are great choices and i recomend using one of those.
if you have the time/space i would try as many as you can and get a feel for what you like. i personally like Invision Power Board currently im behind in the versions cause im using the last free version (1.3) the latest one i think is 2.3. let us know how it works
