This isn't unusual. The iPod and several other devices fell on that list due to ITAR (International Trafficing Arms Regulations) because of the components they contain. Many common items can fall on the DOD restricted list for simple reasons. Example: Your off the shelf laptop with 128 bit encryption is illegal to export in many instances.

Why be so mean to North Korea the day they try to do something nice?

QATAR -- North and South Korean officials met Wednesday and agreed that the two Koreas should field a joint team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, a report said.....
....The two agreed on "the need for a single team for Beijing," the report said. South Korean team officials at the Games were unable to confirm the meeting, though they said talks were scheduled for Thursday....
If they can work this out, I think they should ride on Segways in the Olympic parade.
